If you dont know, SAR them for the information it costs £10

This may be the answer I have been looking for

Has anybody received their SAR back from M&S Money.?

I took the card out in 1985 when it was a Chargecard and have three different a/c numbers for the same account over the years.

I have found some old cheque stubs going back to 1999/2000 which show payments of £100 a month. Like an idiot my card was usually maxed out and I only used to pay a couple of pounds over the minimum payment.

I am trying to find details of payments I made prior to 2004 and wondered if this sort of information would be on the SAR.

I have also been told that HSBC only have records of payments made since they took over M&S and any offer they make is based on their records.
I cancelled the card in 2007 when my husband found out that I wasn.t covered because I had my own shop.
If this is true I will miss out on 18 years of payments, surely this can't be right?
Can anybody give me any ideas how to try and get more details please ?

    Good afternoon.

Just finished going through my PPi questionaire in preparation to send off the HFC (beneficial) for a loan i took out in Nov 2007, obviously got all the usual guff about the PPI protecting me in the event of sickness and unemployment (only condition that was explained was pre-existing medical condition), was told that it would assist my application (was told it was not compulsory but that it would help), is this a reasonable case to submit to HFC ? As i did sign to agree to the insurance does that make my claims invalid ?
Look here for reasons for mis sell
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#step2
if any/all apply to you then put a claim in.

My other question revolves around a previous loan i had with the smae company Beneficial finance. This loan superceeded and paid off the old loan, i don't have any documents for the old loan, so i'm just wondering if it's worth waiting until i get a decision for this loan before going through all the rigmarole of a SAR request about the old loan account, as if i do get turned down for this one then i'm not likely to get anything for the old loan taken in 2005 am i?
They should look at this one as well, give them a ring and ask them to do this.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi all
I have recently applied to reclaim the PPI on an active loan from Natwest, we had a letter yesterday stating that our claim was being upheld! Yay! My question is, would they make us use the money to pay off the active loan or would we just get a cheque? It wasn't clear on the letter.

    Thanks in advance

@Fan - congrats on your success! My understanding is they can use the money to pay any amounts in arrears, but not for existing loans where you're up to date. Someone correct me if wrong please!

Out of interest, how long did it take from submitting the claim to your letter coming through upholding the complaint?

EDIT: just seen my question was answered on the discussion thread - just before Xmas.

Hello everyone, can anyone advise on the final response letter my O,H recvd today,
Loan 1. Refund of the cost of PPI instalments paid over the term of loan-£1407.54
Plus int at %8 on the PPI instalments
    £642.15
    TOTAL £2049.69

Loan 2. Refund of the cost of PPI up to when loan was repaid £55.32
Plus int at %8 on the PPI instalments £17.73
    Total £73.05

Loan 3 refund of the cost of PPI paid over term of loan £1184.44
Plus 8% int on the PPI installments you paid £213.26
    TOTAL £1397.70

    Loans 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8.
Due to the time elapsed, we are unable to investigate these loans further. If you are in posssession of the original loan agreements, can you arrange to send these to above adress, in order that we can review investigate your complaint further.
I have 3 of the loans original agreements, and when I sent SAR off clydesdale sent me one of the other loan agreements, so I don't know why they are saying they havnt got paperwork now???1 of the loans I have no paperwork for so can they get out of paying that 1?
There is an acceptance form with the letter, n this is where I get confused, it says-
    Re loans 1,2 and 3.
I hereby accept the offer of redress as detailed in the banks letter dated 31/1/12 in full and final settlement of all matters, current or future, arising from my complaint against the bank in respect of the payment protection policy arranged in conjunction with the above loan account.
    TOTAL OFFER £3520.44
Can I accept these offers and it won't affect any of the other claims we have with them. This couldn't have come at a better time. My mum died last week, my fellas been off work with his back, so this couldn't have come at a better time ;-) n I could never have done it without help from on here. High five xx

Little bump for the ppl in the know on here. X

I have a work colleague who when i told him i had recieved money back off my credit card started telling me about the P.P.I he had paid on loans, mortgages and credit cards quite a while ago with most of them finishing over 5 years ago. I told him he might be entitled to reclaim some of them back and he has now asked me to find out if he can. Is there anyway i can find out what P.P.I he has paid as he isn't sure who he had some of the loans and C.C.
  • Hi all, What a brilliant site this is!! I'm starting a claim on behalf of my mum, although it seems rather daunting, stressful and time consuming, the end result is what its all about and very much needed asap :) so im at the beginning, just want to ask a couple of things for now please.
    1. I have read abit about adding a 8% interest on the PPI claim, what does everyone advise on this? Will it affect the claim in ways of delaying and whether or not they will repay if im pushing that extra amount? Obvioulsy the more the better, and i see this in way of punishment, they soon do it to us, they have basically kept this money in loan from us without permission too, they're interest rates are disgusting!!
    2. Ive also heard that April is the closing date for the recclaims, if i put this through now, will they throw the case in April or will they have to accept it as iv started in the time limit?

I may not be the brighest bulb to do this myself, but there is noway im letting a 10-20% go to anyone when i have this site bookmarked haha.

Thank you for your time everyone :)

If you win redress the 8% is given too,you don't request this.

    Where have you heard this?.

    The 8% is also taxable.

Glad you are going solo with this,a company will only send the questionnaire in,that you have filled in and then take a % of any redress.

Rbs claim i have going on at the moment , my wife and i took out a loan in 2005 for £25000 to pay off credit cards and existing rbs loan (yes i know but we were so stupid when we were younger) now my main reason for mis sell was that the rbs rep told us the loan would have a much higher chance of being accepted if we had ppi and because we were in such bad financial state we thought we had no choice but to take it :(. After reading this site more am i right in thinking i can also press the fact that the ppi was added to the loan at the beginning meaning i've paid huge amounts of interest on the ppi which was also not explained to us.

Just to add : think they have also sold us a single policy on a joint loan , does this make a difference ?

    Hi Bulky,
Upfront PPI is a big NO NO, this is difficult for the banks to defend and is the most upheld form of PPI. It is a loan within a loan and should be your main reason along with "higher chance" of getting the loan ;)
Not so sure about the single policy on a joint loan, I think PPI only covered the main breadwinner but I could be wrong so don't quote me on that :o Good luck
