I recently contacted my credit card providers as I wasn't actually sure if I even had PPI. It turns out that I have had PPI on two of my cards for a substantial amount of time, I have had my Lloyds TSB MasterCard for approx 20 years and my Marbles MasterCard for approx 12 years. I have contacted both by telephone and made my complaint and received letters from both stating that they will look into whether I was miss sold the PPI. I haven't however been asked to provide any other information, is this normal?

This is normal,if you have not heard anything else by 8 weeks, this includes the time they responded initially to you, then chase it up.
  • Hello all. I sent complaints forms off to Clydesdale on 10th dec. 8 for loans. 1 for a visacard. I am complaining on behalf of my boyfriend, who is dyslexic. I have 2 letters saying they are looking at the complaints but have not made a decision yet, today I recieved another letter, and as per usual it has left me feeling as thick as 2 short planks. Please could someone translate it into English for me, it says-

I am writing with reference to the concerns of your client.

Unfortunately, due to the limitations of the data protection act, I am unable to provide further information on the investigation of the concerns which you have raised on behalf of the above customer as you have. It supplied a valid letter of authority. In order for the authority to be valid it must hold an original signature and make reference to specific accounts held at yorkshire bank.
Our final response letter has been issued directly to your client.

When we sent the complaints forms we both signed them all. My boyfriend hasn't recieved the final response letter yet that is mentioned. Any help greatly appreciated. Oh how long have they got to make a decision? Is it 12 week? Thanks

Did you put the account numbers?,looks like they need this info, why has it taken them this long from dec just to come back with this???

Ask your boyfriend to ring them up and do the complaint over the phone,i dont see why you would need authority to do a claim for him,you could fill the claim form in and your boyfriend just sign?.

    What was the request for?.

Yes it is twelve weeks, when he rings, get him to tell them about the letter he did not receive.

Hi, after reading lots of the posts on here i decided to put in a PPI mis-selling case against Natwest for a loan going back to 1993, sent off my SAR and the cheque for £10. 40 days have passed and I've received nothing, and the cheque hasn't been cashed, I have proof the letter was received under the tracking service for royal mail, but don't know whether to send another letter and give them another 40 days. If anyone can advise me i'd be grateful. RBS/Natwest won't talk to me unless I can give account details. Don't know what to do next.
  • Apologies if this has already been discussed, but I'm new to the site & there's a lot of pages to this thread!!

We took out a mortgage 6 years ago, through a broker. We were told by the broker, in no uncertain terms, that we would not be accepted if we didn't take out mortgage PPI.
The PPI was taken out with another company - Paymentshield.
Can I make a claim against Paymentshield or would it have to be against the broker, who actually sold me the policy? The brokers have since ceased trading!

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Thanks guys for all your help.

Armed with a little knowledge I called Nat West. Did not manage to get hold of the person who wrote that letter but someone in customer services who was very helpful & promised to provide me with the information I required ASAP.

The strange thing is that Customer Services has no record of actually recieving my letter or having sent out a response !!!

Is Nat West just sending out letters hoping people will just take there word as gospel & go away ?

    Once again thanks guys.

Well guys I pursued it asking NAT WEST politely but firmly for 10 years worth of statements. Well I heard nothing then a few days after the Chairman of RBS gave up his bonus I got a letter making me an offer.

As I have no statements etc I guess I better accept.

Thanks for all your help guys.

    Put a complaint in

Tell them what has happened, that you requested all info they hold on you, that is why you have no account number, and ask them to look into this for you.
