Hi Dozertron,
1) It is not a case of re claiming, it is complaining that you were mis sold PPI. To do this you must have a valid reason to back up your complaint. You can complain about being mis sold PPI on Mortgages(Difficult as often essential) Credit Cards, Loans and purchases of cars, furniture, store cards etc.
Car Insurance is a no as it's illegal to drive a car without Insurance and PPI is not sold with it. If you don't pay for your car insurance your policy is invalidated.
2) If you have no documentation, you could try a free credit report (Experian for example) but that probably won't give you full account numbers, for that you would have to SAR the banks which costs a one off fee of £10, they have 40 days to supply all they hold on you
3) NEVER use a Claims Company, they will rob you of at least 25% of any redress you may get,for doing exactly NO MORE than you can, in fact you would have to do all of the donkey work just to pass it onto them for them to put it in an envelope and post it. Also NEVER use them if you are in arrears with debt as you can end up with no redress and a nice big bill from the claims company.

Hi,
After a bit of advice. I have a tesco credit card which I took out in 2000. It is still active, although I cancelled the PPI in 2006/2007 ish. I believe that when I took it out it was a pre-ticked box. I don't keep my statements or have any paperwork from when I opened it.
Would I be best doing a SAR and seeing what came up? I've read somewhere that there is a time limit on cc's ppi, but as the account is still active won't they still have the records?Money, money, money, must be funny....in a rich mans world.

These letters were sent in November and happy to say say this morning I am debt free. £4500 from alliance and leicester and £10,450 from Halifax. I have been told to tell tax man. Will he take some back?0

Hi waddy indeed they will still have the records as it is still active, give tesco/rbs a call and ask for some info or indeed if you have an account number and believe you were misold then just stick a fos ppi questionnaire into them, see link for downloadable questionnaire, good luck.

Hi i should think your a very happy chap this morning, nice one i don't know a lot about tax but my understanding is that if you are unemployed as you haven't used your years tax allowance that comes off any wins, i think though that if you did have to pay it you could claim it back, as i say i'm not 100% sure but that is my take on it i know lisajayne has had a bit of experience with this see the inland revenue info on link below.

i have taken your advice and written to my credit card asking for the agreement, sending a cheque, some have my signature some have no actually shown any agreement just sent terms and conditions, how should i now proceed ? one bank has made me an offer 1,795 as a jesture of goodwill this is actually the card i use the most, and i wrote to them last year stating i was missold didnt no i had it nor did i no i had a choice, and i am self employed, they said they had put a breakdown on how they had reach this amount,it was not included i have requested this, just not sure what to put into writing to the companys who have just sent agreement thanks for help and advise
If you have reasons for mis sell, then put the claims in.

Sometimes ppi is added to cards when you ring to activate,so it may not show on the agreement anyway.
As for the redress you have been offered, wait for the workings out, dont leave it longer than 2 weeks before you chase them on this,if you post the figures up someone will take a look and see if they are correct.
Just to let you know,if you have no proof of ppi paid previous to 6 years, you get redress for the 6 years, the 8% is awarded on a credit balance when they reset the card.0
