Did the company give you the ppi? it is possible that you needed to take this,to ensure the debts were paid.
I dont know how this works to be honest, but if you had no use of this ppi then it is possible you were mis sold.

If the ppi is attached to seperate debts and you believe you were mis sold then you can put a claim in for those that had ppi, this is extra money going out that you cannot afford at the moment.

BRILLANT CAPPO, just added my support, everyone should the same.

If the "rip off" banks thought they had a tough time in 2011, it can only get worse for them in 2012:T:T:T

    .... and it's only January :rotfl::rotfl:

    Hi guys

Not sure if this has been covered - searched but there's so much in this thread! Wrote to my bank (Natwest), using the form letter as I didn't have my loan details available. Just had a letter back (minus my cheque for £1) telling me a bit of bumf about the CCA 1974, and the DPA, with a nice little closing line saying that as my loan is not currently active, they have no legal obligation to provide me with my loan agreements.

So I rang and spoke to the PPI claims line and they told me that you can obtain your documents for no fee (as far as I am aware) from:

    RBS Data Protection Manager
    Regulatory Risk
    Business House B
    2nd Floor
    PO BOX 1000
    Edinburgh
    EH12 1HQ

Just thought this might save some people £1 and a stamp! Anyone else had this back from them, by the way? (Edit: Found some replies mentioning the same thing - must learn to use the search better!)

How long ago roughly was your loan from Natwest ? - I had several personal loans with them way back in the 1990's and I had to take the PPI or the loans wouldnt have been granted plus I have no paperwork either today :o
  • Well, I've received a copy of my Credit Agreement today with MBNA :( I applied for card via post and have checked the box 'yes' to protect my payments... don't suppose I have a leg to stand on now do I?

I was never contacted by anyone to explain the 'benefits' suppose I could throw this at them?

Has anyone had a successful claim even though the made my above mistake?

Are you sure you ticked it ???? MNBA did a lot of ticking themselves.
If the policy is with St Andrews, it is not worth the paper it was written on

LOOK AT THIS LIST and if you can answer NO to one or more, put in your claim

*Did YOUR BANK explain the full cost of the PPI when you took out the loan?
*Did you specifically ask YOUR BANK for PPI?
*Did YOUR BANK make clear that PPI was optional?
*Did YOUR BANK ask you about your medical history?
*Did YOUR BANK ask you about any existing payment cover?
*Did you know that YOUR BANK added a PPI policy to your loan?
*Do you think YOUR BANK treated you fairly?
*Did YOUR BANK ask if you have any existing medical conditions?
*Did YOUR BANK ask if you were entitled to sick pay from your employer?
*Did YOUR BANK add the PPI without your permission

If you answered no to any one of the above you could be owed thousands of pounds

Wow! Just looked again at the paperwork and nowhere is there a tick box for 'No' ...then underneath it states 'We STRONGLY recommend you take out this cover'

There is no mention of St. Andrews that I can see? ...and I answered no to several of your above bullet points.

Thank you so much, all this is being posted recorded on Monday!!
