  • Hi

About seven years ago I took out a secured loan with First Plus and was told we had to have PPI. So we went ahead with it.

After five years we were given the option to get the PPI payments back as we had not claimed. We took the option and got £7500 back but at that point discovered that for those 5 years we had only been paying the PPI and the loan amount has not changed!

So I would like to know if we have a case to claim given that we've had the money back that we paid, the policy is no longer active but we weren't informed that the loan would not be paid in those first five years?

    Thanks.
  • Just had a call from my FOS adjudicator to introduce herself and get some more info. I guess she has to ask, but it felt a bit judgemental when she asked why I hadn't noticed PPI before - i.e., don't you check your statements? I have e-statements anyway and no, I don't tbh.

Plus I had a lot of crap going on in my family last year that quite frankly was much more important - I only check my bank statements to make sure I'm in the black.

Still not confident of a result, but we'll see how it goes.

  • Can someone advise on potentially going through moneyclaim.gov.uk to issue a court summons? I'm coming up to 100 days since receiving my calculation letter and still waiting. I've rang, written, emailed, visited my branch, written to my MP and I'm all out of ideas.

Hi myk i'm sure that would be fine as you've already got an uphold and it would just be really enforcing the decision

    Cheers

They're looking at it from the angle that I applied for PPI, but that it was never fully explained to me.

Well, I have a letter with the calculation offer and saying interest was paying up til 27th october. That was mid September. Can anyone else confirm here? I don't want to submit a claim and pay £80 for it to be thrown out and lose my original offer in the process

    Thanks

Just phoned Barclays to ask when I will get a decision on my OD protection as it is now nearly 12 weeks as opposed to the 8 week time limit stated on their website.
I was told that they cant give me any dates and the FOS and FSA have been informed that they(Barclays) are not able to meet the 8 week deadline because of they are inundated with complaints.

Does this mean Barclays do not now have any set time limits within which they are required to provide a final response to my complaint?
    Do I just wait???
