Been turned down from Yorkshire bank for loans paid off in 1998 and 2001 for ppi refund, I don't have any paperwork from the actual loans, just statements were I made the monthly payments. But the loan numbers were on my SAR and were given to me from the teller when I enquired.

Yorkshire bank turned me down, I appealed with a letter help written by Beamerguy and Cappo so thank you both. Yorkshire Bank then said that they would reinvestigated. They even phoned me to ask about my statements, which i offered to send but they said that that wasn't any use.

I know I had PPI as a single parent they said I must have PPI to have the loan approved, the loan was to pay my overdraft and both were insisted on by the banks advisor.

Is it worth sending to FOS?

Lisa, and that is where you have got Yorkshire Bank ..... "they said I must have PPI to have the loan approved"

You were mis-sold by the banks advisor who was lining his pocket with commission. It is an unfair agreement which you were forced into accepting. Against regulations. GO FOR THE KILL LISA

I would hit them with this
  • Hi,

Has anyone on this site had any dealings with either First National Bank plc or First National Tricity Finance? I am trying to claim back mis sold PPI but First National transferred to Tricity Finance and as far as I can find out, Santander took over from them in 2005. I would appreciate any comments or suggestions, thanks

Just phoned HMRC to pay tax on 8% interest payment. I asked if they could change my tax code to do it through PAYE but was told they can't change my tax code during the year but would send me a payment slip to return with a cheque. Kiss goodbye to £300 :(
They are going to make a fortune out of this :(
Oh well, at least they won't be chasing me for it next year :p
    Successes
    Sainsbury's/BOS £6,400 Paid :)
    MBNA £3,600 Paid :)

Hi Dilus, to get your PPI refund must have cost you time and money so work it out and claim back against your tax bill.

Beamerguy, I think I love you!!!!

I emailed Stephen Hester on Monday to chase my claim & I got a reply from the Customer Concerns Team today with my acceptance letter attached.

I was almost too scared to open the attachment but I'm so happy I took your advice. I've copied the main body of the letter below:

    21 September 2011

    Dear Miss *****
Payment Protection Insurance Policy in association with The Royal Bank of Scotland Loan Account Number ********

You will be pleased to know that I have now finished my review into the concerns that you raised about your Payment Protection Insurance Policy. Your concerns are important to us.

Whilst investigating your concerns relating to the PPI in association with the loan account that you initially complained about, it has to come to light that this loan forms part of a consolidated loan chain. As a result an investigation into all loans within this chain has been carried out.
In the circumstances, and given the amount of time that has passed since you made your complaint, as a gesture of goodwill and without any admission of liability, the Bank is prepared to make you the offer detailed below.
    My offer
The Bank is prepared to refund the insurance premiums and interest that you have paid.
We are willing to make you a total offer of £ 7,022.00. For more information as to how this figure has been determined, please see the enclosed redress output forms.

Interest will be paid Gross or net of the lower rate of Income Tax depending on your tax position.
The offer we are making takes into account the PPI premiums you have paid plus the interest applied to them. In addition, and in line with FOS and FSA guidance, we have applied an additional 8% compensatory interest and further interest for any period during which your complaint was on hold due to the British Bankers Association’s legal action.

As you have made a complaint about the way in which the policy was sold to you, please be aware that if you currently have an open loan account and the Payment Protection Insurance policy on this loan has not already been cancelled, it has now been cancelled. As a result of the plan being cancelled, you have lost the benefits that it provides.

Unbelievable!!!! I never expected that!!!! Didn't even consider the fact I had consolidated previous loans!!!!! And I especially love the line "without any admission of liability"!!!

Thank you so much & if anyone else out there is struggling with RBS - please use beamerguy's advice & EMAIL!!!!!!!!

I suppose now the hard work starts in actually getting the money off them but one again, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Well, how happy am I???!!!!

When I opened my post on Saturday, I find 7 (yes, 7!!!) what I thought were identical letters from RBS advising they hadn't received my declaration of acceptance, even though I had an email from RBS confirming receipt on 07/11/11.

I emailed RBS to ask if this was purely an admin error & for them to confirm they had received my original signed acceptance.

Today, I received a response to my email advising they had received a reply for 1 complaint but they had also logged a further 7 complaints on my behalf!!

So I decided to read the letters again & each one has a different reference & on the back of each letter are further declaration & acceptances for me to sign & return for (in total) about £1880.00!!!!

    That makes just under £9k!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Again, thank you so much for all your help, I couldn't have done this without the help from this forum!!

PS And beamerguy - I really do love you!!!:rotfl:

Hi beamerguy, yes, might just do that although the time and very small amount of money spent doing it has been very educational and has taught me to be more savvy in future. Thanks for all your help and advice m8 ;)

Hi, you are not stuck, do remember that all these banks are suffering at the moment due to the amount of money they are paying back, Nationwide included.

You will no doubt be able to answer NO to one or more from this check list. Your job is let their comments go over your head and persue them with vigour and DO NOT stop the pressure until that cheque pops through the door. THEY COMMITTED FRAUD and they will pay for it

*Did YOUR BANK explain the full cost of the PPI when you took out the loan?
*Did you specifically ask YOUR BANK for PPI?
*Did YOUR BANK make clear that PPI was optional?
*Did YOUR BANK ask you about your medical history?
*Did YOUR BANK ask you about any existing payment cover?
*Did you know that YOUR BANK added a PPI policy to your loan?
*Do you think YOUR BANK treated you fairly?
*Did YOUR BANK ask if you have any existing medical conditions?
*Did YOUR BANK ask if you were entitled to sick pay from your employer?

I dont actually remember as it was done over the phone but I dont think they asked about existing medical conditions and sick pay, and the way the word 'optional' looks like its been added to be honest were the word insurance is. If I want to try claim what would be best for me to write? Im useless with writing letters.:(

I really don't think they have a clue, I was told my tax code would be adjusted to incorporate the tax I had to pay but the guy kept having to refer to notes on the system as he was going along
