  • Hi Sammy87, I too have an old Halifax credit card and have noticed repayment cover which I will be investigating too. Let us know how you get on.

Thanks Amersall for the credit card link - will be looking into this too!

I am awaiting a cheque from First Plus, going to start a claim on Barclays and now credit card for Halifax. I am determined to get some money from them!

Think you could be right beamerguy, maybe me sending your excellent letter to my local MP and the FSA could have caused his downfall, I'd like to think so :)
No wonder no one has been getting replies from him

Time will tell dilus, the proposed acting CEO is Tim Tookey: Group Finance Director but he leaves LTSB in february so won't really care what happens ?

Lloyds Banking Group is a sinking ship without a Captain

    DIY is best

PEOPLE .. DO NOT USE COMPANIES WHO PROMISE THE EARTH. NOT ONLY WILL IT COST YOU AT LEAST 20%, THEY CAN DO NO MORE THAN YOU CAN. ALL THE ADVICE IS AVAILABLE ON THIS SITE ... FREE

This is true. The problem is that these companies take out full page newspaper adverts and cold calling. I read recently 80% of all claims go through CMCs. Not sure why anyone would consider using CMCs when it's so easy to do it yourself.

    Excellent! Thanks for your replies.

They definitely knew he was self employed, he also had his bank account with them.

I wasn't sure if we could still claim since they had refused and we didn't pursue it. Will get OH to give them a call.

    Good luck.;)

Beamerguy, I think I love you!!!!

I emailed Stephen Hester on Monday to chase my claim & I got a reply from the Customer Concerns Team today with my acceptance letter attached.

I was almost too scared to open the attachment but I'm so happy I took your advice. I've copied the main body of the letter below:

    21 September 2011

    Dear Miss *****
Payment Protection Insurance Policy in association with The Royal Bank of Scotland Loan Account Number ********

You will be pleased to know that I have now finished my review into the concerns that you raised about your Payment Protection Insurance Policy. Your concerns are important to us.

Whilst investigating your concerns relating to the PPI in association with the loan account that you initially complained about, it has to come to light that this loan forms part of a consolidated loan chain. As a result an investigation into all loans within this chain has been carried out.
In the circumstances, and given the amount of time that has passed since you made your complaint, as a gesture of goodwill and without any admission of liability, the Bank is prepared to make you the offer detailed below.
    My offer
The Bank is prepared to refund the insurance premiums and interest that you have paid.
We are willing to make you a total offer of £ 7,022.00. For more information as to how this figure has been determined, please see the enclosed redress output forms.

Interest will be paid Gross or net of the lower rate of Income Tax depending on your tax position.
The offer we are making takes into account the PPI premiums you have paid plus the interest applied to them. In addition, and in line with FOS and FSA guidance, we have applied an additional 8% compensatory interest and further interest for any period during which your complaint was on hold due to the British Bankers Association’s legal action.

As you have made a complaint about the way in which the policy was sold to you, please be aware that if you currently have an open loan account and the Payment Protection Insurance policy on this loan has not already been cancelled, it has now been cancelled. As a result of the plan being cancelled, you have lost the benefits that it provides.

Unbelievable!!!! I never expected that!!!! Didn't even consider the fact I had consolidated previous loans!!!!! And I especially love the line "without any admission of liability"!!!

Thank you so much & if anyone else out there is struggling with RBS - please use beamerguy's advice & EMAIL!!!!!!!!

I suppose now the hard work starts in actually getting the money off them but one again, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Absolutely fab!:T Congratulations!

    Hi
I am new to this PPI claim and would very much appreciate some advice please. Both my husband and I are retired and over the past 30 odd years we have had a mortgage (due to finish next year), loan and a few credit cards.
These past few weeks we have been receiving calls from various companies stating that we could be due for compensation for being charged on loans, credit cards and mortgage. Today we received another call from someone called Matthew on 01792761040 asking details of our finances. As I was a bit sceptical, I asked a few questions, and the replies I got seemed a bit vague; like he got my details from a database. However, he did stress the fact that they are a government organisation and part of the Ministry of Justice!! When asked how I could verify who he was he said they have a website but he would not give me the website address so I can check it out in my own time but said if I could get on a computer now he would guide me through it as the website is so huge. That got me a bit suspicious so I asked him to call back in an hour, he said he had a dental appointment and would call back tomorrow. The first thing that started alarm bells ringing is that he called me by my middle name (which only family and friends do) and all my official papers are in my first name. I directly Googled it and unfortunately came up with confusing reviews.
I was just wondering if anyone have had calls from them and whether they are genuine. Thank you.

    Hi there

    A claims management company!

If you think you have a reclaim on the ppi, then I would personally have a go yourself, this way you will get to keep all your ppi refund and its less work this way too, with just a matter of completing a reclaim questionnaire.
Step 3 below to the questionnaire, complete and send to whoever sold and set up your policy, complaints or head office, keep copies as well, good luck.

    Hi

Anyone had any success with getting their money back from Halifax? 8 weeks and many phone/calls letters after accepting their offer, I still don't have my money! Now 21 weeks after the initial complaint and still no further forward - keep getting told "they are working in a stict date order" - but no-one can tell you what date they are working on! Really fed up now - and still approx £5K out of pocket!

    Hi

Get on to your local MP, we have been suggesting this as another avenue, as they are under the government, and the banks should act quicker with your MP involved.

Explain the situation to your MP, and ask he or she to send you a copy and of any correspondence received.

    Keep at them, good luck.:)

    OMG (Oh my God)

Halifax, Lloyds Bank, CEO Antonio Osorio now on sick leave due to stress !!!

Give these idiots 7 days to send you a check, or you will issue a County Court Summons which will cost about £25. Interest to be added, and as they will not turn up, you will win by default .... it will not go that far.

Halifax/Lloyds are in VERY SERIOUS trouble

Yep, you can say that again!!:mad::mad:
