    Hi People,

Can anyone advise me on one thing, that being is it better to go with someone like Gladstone Brookes to reclaim my PPI at their rate of roughly 30% if successful for ease and proffessional handling or is it better to go it alone myself, will i have more success with GB??

    Hi there

Defo do it yourself, this way you will get to keep all your refund and less paperwork involved too.
Its just a matter of completing a reclaim questionnaire on step 3 below, send to the responsible business who sold your account to you, (head office or complaints dept) and keep a copy for yourself.

Its actually straight forward to do it yourself and using a claims company will not be any quicker.
Hope that helps, and wishing you luck on your reclaiming, and of course feel free to ask for help on this site.;)

Success wise, it makes no difference, as long as you have your reasons for being mis sold, they must investigate.

  • Hi all

I had a Dorothy Perkins store card, quite a few years ago, now paid off. I probably had it in 2000-2004? I obviously dont still have any paper work relating to this but I am sure that I paid PPI, def remember something being on the statement that I hadn't asked for and didnt know what it was (needless to say didnt do anything about it). How do I find out if I am owed anything??

I have had a look on experian at my credit file and cant see anything on there. Has too much time passed to claim now anyway?

We are on a DMP at the moment and completely skints, so anything would help....

    Thanks for reading

Contact them yourself and see what they say they might come up with the info for you, some do, failing that contact fos with regard as to what to do, i've just had LTSB swear blind i never had ppi on two loans and got sent that in writing it's taken me 6 months but i have now claimed misale and recovered on both of them so if you know you had ppi stick to your guns as long as theres a reason to claim misold you can put a claim in the links below might help.

Hi, a question I could not answer, maybe someone here could do.

In the puib last night, we all got talking about the re-claiming that was going on and the monies being refunded.
The question arose about the recession in the late 80's and those who had properties repossessed.
When they first got the mortgage it was done on a valuation from the lender so lets assume the property was valued at £200.000 by the lender and a loan given on that basis.
Then in the late 80's when the housing market fell through the floor, people defaulted on mortgages due to the recession, the lenders then repossessed the property and re-sold it at prices well below the valuation given by them prior.

One could say that by accepting the mortgage based on the valuation is a contract and that lenders broke the contract by selling the property at a lesser value

    Any thoughts people
  • Hi

We took a mortgage with C&G in 2004, however they required PPI as part of the deal. We agreed but took PPI with a different company (Paymentshield). I have recently read about the mis-selling of PPI and wonder where we stand as we took it with a different company. Is anyone aware of any similar situations?

    Thanks for any responses

I think you firstly must establish if you were mis-sold the PPI, have you tried to claim, do you actually know what you are covered for

Don't know if anyone knows how these banks calculate there offers now had this from LTSB this seems a bit low, they've confused me now, i had an offer letter offering me £191.11 is this right?

I can confirm that our calculations are based on the limited information available for these loans as they were taken out in the 1990’s. Our records show that you have had two loans with us and we have offered a full refund on both of these loans from the information available. I have requested that if you have any paperwork that can assist us then please forward a copy and we will reconsider our offer.

Having checked our records I can confirm that you have been made aware of the 8% calculation in our offer letters and the amounts are as below-

    Total Premium £79.66 £662.17 Rebate £461.98
Premium paid £88.52 (Plus loan interest) £97.75
    8% £102.59 £369.58
    Settlement Balance Difference £200.04
    Total £191.11 £667.37

    Could someone help me please?

My husband wasn't successful in reclaiming from Intelligent Finance, he received a waffly letter giving no specific reason why. I wrote back to them and asked them to reconsider as he is a self employed business owner who would continue to pay himself if sick etc and asked for the reasons of why it wasn't upheld.

This letter was ignored so he rang them and they reopened the complaint, then 2 days later he received a letter saying refer to previous letter complaint closed...

Now I want to write to someone higher within the company to get this looked at properly.

Who do I write to? It seems intelligent finance is part of Bank of Scotland which is part of Lloyds group formerly part of Halifax.

I saw earlier in the thread the contact name and address for head of PPI for BOS is the correct person. I've saved this info somewhere!

    Thank you

Hi red peppers i'd take this as a final response from them and fos this, some of these lenders have sawdust between there ears and you can just imagine them singing as there reading your letter with there fingers in there ears and there eyes closed totally not paying attention i think you might unfortunately be wasting your time with them but you have a very good case as if your hub were self employed in all probability he couldn't have claimed.
