WHO KNOWS, the fact though is that huge claims are not substainable to any company.
The problem is this, they set aside all these £billions on calculations of what might happen. They have not taken into account the future and ongoing claims which could double or treble their estimates.

As word spreads, they are facing a daily input of new claims from those who were unaware they could claim. This will continue into the unforseen future.

HOWEVER, this is not a case of panic if you have an account with a UK bank, the government is your cushion.

Thanks. Its just a bit unsettling for all of us waiting for money when we have been upheld and not being able to get any timescales from the banks. However I have moved from the calculations queue on Tuesday to the Calculations department today. Was told this morning by halifax that I would receive a calc letter and information on how they were going to pay it in due course. I thought I would just receive a cheque or something. I wont hold my breath....

If you don't owe them money elsewhere on loans etc, you will get a cheque. If you owe them more than they are going to pay then, they have the right to offset the amount against what you owe

well the loan is paid off. it was actually through my husbands account although I had to have my name on it otherwise he wouldnt have got the loan. does this mean that because I have an overdraft on my account that they could offset some of the money to that account.

They can only offset to the same account so if the claim is not on your account you will get a cheque.
If it is your account, they may well try to reduce your OD, BUT .. they would go against the conditions applied your OD

So, its on your hubby's account to which the loan has been repaid so they can only send a cheque.

    YOUR JOB NOW:
On a daily basis contact them for the payment, if need be go to the CEO, THE MORE PRESSURE YOU APPLY, THE QUICKER YOUR CHEQUE WILL ARRIVE
