just had a letter back from hsbc on the 4 loans i mentioned before, offering me just under 6k which was a little bit less than i was hoping for but i think it's right as i had the 4 loans over only 4 years and kept refinancing them so it will pay my cap 1 card off in full and my n&p overdraft so at least i don't owe anything, now i've got figures for that i can put the mortgage ppi in also with hsbc (there going to love me lol) just got to try to get them to renegotiate the credit card and 4k loan now that leaves 2 at the fos 3 new (old) claims with LTSB and mppi with hsbc

Hi Cappo I had recent success with HSBC on a loan but I noticed you are claiming mppi with them. I also have mppi which I have paid since 2003 at £32.00 per month but me and my husband also have income protection to cover us and we both get six months full pay and sick months half pay with our jobs. Is it worth trying to claim the mppi? Who did you send your letter to? Thanks Paula :j

Right....getting the impression they don't know their !!!! from their elbow.

Had a letter dates 31 August saying I was due redress of £2292.46. Letter never arrived, called them and they sent out a replacement. Fine, 40 working days the money will be in your account.

Phoned them today as I've not seen any money to date. Advised that a second letter went out on 20 September (also never arrived) with a figure of £3122.20 - but that it would be 40 working days from then.

Nobody appears to know what the hell is going on - it's been since May that I made my original complaint. I just want paying.

Is there anything I can do to speed things up, as they are advising me I 'cannot jump the queue'.

Same thing has happened to me. First letter was sent out 1st September, never arrived so duplicate letter sent out quoting £5,633.47. Second letter sent out 20th September quoting £6,034.50 but with this letter the acceptance form & recalculated loan repayments were included. Now that I know others are receiving the same sort of treatment I'm going to email CEO's office today & ask for an explanation on how they can quote 40 days from one date only to change it to 40 days from a later date a couple of weeks later.
  • After reading the excellent advice here, and getting some really helpful feedback from some other posters, I submitted our claim for PPI mis-selling to Firstplus last week.

Oddly the following day (the day our correspondance was delivered to Firstplus) we received a letter from Deloitte acting on behalf of the FSCS stating that they understood that we had taken out PPI with Wilmslow Financial Services - formally Freedom Finance, and to complete paperwork to submit a claim.

Today I received a reponse from Firstplus stating that they cannot help with our claim because the loan was taken out with Freedom Finance. However, our signed loan agreement is with Firstplus and the payment that goes out of our account each month is to Firstplus.

Now I'm very confused because I don't know who to submit the claim to, and I don't know if this letter from Deloitte is kosher or if this is a claims company trying to act on our behalf.

I'm desperate for some advice please.

Just called the number on the Deloitte letter and they have explained the situation to me.

It seems that Freedom Finance were the brokers for the loan (which was supplied by Firstplus), and so they sold us the PPI - so our claim needs to be made against them.

I just thought that I'd post this just in case it helps anyone else who has been confused by the claims process.

    Hi there

    this sounds about right.;)

Whoever set up and sold you the loan account are the ones responsible, but you will of course receive the lenders documents, that you can use for evidence for the FSCS reclaims.

    Don't worry.

I am one of those who made a successful reclaim with the FSCS over a year ago and as the broker dissolved, I provided them with the lenders paperwork.
The FSCS will be fully aware of that.

    Good luck.;)

Hi guys some good news re cap one today after the adjudicator dealing with my case at the fos left, i sent an email to casework at the fos got a call from a really helpful adjudicator who has taken on my case and in his talks with the ombudsman they will now reverse the original adjudicators decision and uphold the claim (thanks Di for thinking this was possible) they have told me i can either make an actual claim for critical illness off the ppi backdated to the time i had the stroke which would pay me £700.00 (even though the ppi is cancelled) which was the balance on the card 1 day before the stroke or claim the ppi which would be about £500.00 but they would uphold, i'd written it off so are made up about this, i know it's not a fortune but it's money and it will be mine lol, there guys this proves cap one are not indestructible.
