Hi guys sorry to cut in on any conversations now heard back about 2 credit card claims and one small hsbc loan hsbc are upholding first, another 4 to go with them where i'm expecting to hear about the others by end of august, don't know what they are paying yet as there making a payment without admission of liability it doesn't mention actually being a goodwill payment though so whether they'll try to knock my interest i don't know.

    1 mbna (won)
    1 tesco (won)

    2 creditcards,1 loan hsbc (won) T.D

Hi guys.... Just wondering if anyone has done the same as me....

I tried to reclaim PPI on a £5000 natwest loan back in 2009 (i think), natwest said it wasn't mis-sold but as a gesture of goodwill for being a good customer offered me £750 as settlement...

My question is do anyone think it is worth trying to get the whole amount based on the recent ruling or am i flogging a dead horse?

    Anyone tried this?

Also...i tried to claim back my Littlewoods catalogue PPI at the same time, got told to get lost really.... But i have just received a letter saying they are looking into their customer service at the time i was declined and could re-open my case.. Fingers crossed :-)

I think i might now get the same with my lender been told that the bank does not accept any liability for my misold but on this occasion they will make me a payment of compo in 4 weeks and i think i might get the same i have said that if thats the case and i get a miserly offer i will accept it as a part payment only and will be chasing the rest through the fos/fsa. go for it what have you got to lose

    Hi,
Hi phoned direct line looking for info regarding 2 loans and come up with a blank due to age of loan (from late90's)advisor couldn't help me, after giving name, address etc. I'm at a loss what to do next, I asked whether I could go down the route of an SAR, but she told me I would need agreement number - which I don't have.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks

Hi irnbru try a credit report say for example experian it should give you any account numbers.

    Hi

I'm hoping some of you helpful people here on MSE will be able to steer me in the right direction.

I'll try briefly to set the scene...

I took out a personal loan with Abbey National in 1997 to buy a new car and from the outset had PPI, was sold it over the fone and not really given an option of not having it, I'm sure you all know the drill, just sold over the phone, they tell you will pay the loan if you become unemployed, etc and it all sounds cosy, but they don't tell you the exclusions and as I cannot remember when I as first prescribed blood pressure tablets, they may have well excluded me.

Anyway I was so happy they said yes and I could get a new car.

So, everything was fine and I was paying approx £300 per month, including the PPI. Then in 2001/2002 I got into a bit of difficulty, not only with the loan, but I had lots of credit cards and was a silly girl. But I never stopped paying my loan (or the other stuff) but it was getting too much for me, and making only minimum payments on credit cards didn't help. I did one of those debt consolidation agreements where a company was sharing out an amount I gave them between my creditors. I didn't want to include the loan but had to, as I was told by the debt consolidating people that it would be harder for them to get creditors to agree to reduced payments. I think at this time the PPI may have been cancelled with the loan.

I continued, through the consolidation company to pay the loan (can't remember if they froze interest, think not) until just over a year later, Amex (one of my cards) contacted me and said I could do this myself, wouldn't be charged for the privilege and my creditors would view me better, they were very helpful. So I came to agreements myself with my creditors including the loan (and an overdraft I had with the same bank) and paid it all off. I didn't go bankrupt at all and I'm proud to say I paid every penny back. I also opened an account with another bank and had salary paid in there. I finally finished paying all my creditors in 2006.

So whilst I didn't go bankrupt, I'm sure I was technically in default, but I wonder if this means I cannot claim?

Also, does the length of time ago I took out the loan have an impact? Whilst I took it out in 1997, it was still active until 2006 which is still within the 6 year limit.

My main reason for claiming is now I am in a strained financial situation, through no fault of my own, like many of us I imagine and am thinking "if I don't ask I wont get", but did want the advice and help of others before I embark on this.

I do have some minimal paperwork from Abbey/Santander, confirmation of receiving my last payment.

I'd be grateful for any replies....and sorry, I was not as brief as I thought I was gonna be

Hi clair well done for sorting out your what must have been a very tricky situation, glad to hear your debt free now:T you can make any number of claims for misold ppi as long as you have reasons to do so, see the link below, it doesn't matter really when you had your loan if it finished in 2006 your well within the 6 year window anyway, sounds as if your good to go, if you need any more help feel free to let us know.:)

(don't worry about the dmp and consequent dealings with the debt plan for the bank won't make any difference to your reclaims)

Hi all, I hope you are all keeping positive with the August deadline drawing nearer.

An update for you:- I have various different PPI complaints ongoing at the moment, one of which is with MBNA regarding a credit card started in 2000 and chopped up in 2006. Complaint went in May 20th 2011 and received a letter asking me to ring the Customer Advocate Office 7th June to give more information as the card had changed numbers atleast once in the 6 years it was active. Next letter was dated 17th June saying apologies for not getting back to me sooner (?!?) and they would respond by 18th July. Letter received dated 18th July but needed another 21 days to compile data.
By this time I was a bit fed up so I emailed CEO on August 8th and he passed things onto a case manager who advised me by email that he would give a responce in 7 working days.
Guess what... it's now day 9 so I have just rung the Customer Advocate Office and been told that they have now got all the account numbers for the card (I gave them this in my initial complaint letter and questionnaire) but as my appointed case manager has gone sick with stress they can't tell me when things will progress further! And to cap it all off I asked if they wanted to double check my addresses (home and email), so that they could contact me either way, and they had an old home address listed as the contact address (even though they have been writing to me at my current address all through this saga).

The moral of this is - check that the bank/card provider has your correct contact details and that if you have an appointed case manager pray they don't go off sick.

Well done to all you winners, I hope the upheld letters keep on coming

Don't worry about it ebay girl just think of all the extra interest, the longer they take the more money you get.
