Do not use a claims management company. They will charge you a fortune for doing little more than filling in a form that you can easily do yourself. Its amazing how these banks can't even do simple calculations correctly..............0 -
Hi,
I asked LTSB for T&C for my cc, waited 5/6 weeks after me phoning on a weekly basis, finds out they haven't got them (cc opened 1996) I have put in a claim for the misselling of PPI and i'm now thinking of trying to claim back charges so have sent a SAR because 1 I don't fully trust them with regard to not being able to find paperwork and 2 need info for charges!
If they are telling truth and can't find necessary paperwork relating to PPI, how can they process claim?
Also I had 2 loans with direct line in the 90,s but don't have any documentation, how can I find out about PPI on them, without any numbers etc?0 -
Can see me living on this thread for the next few afternoons while I try and sort out my OH's mess! First card I'm starting on is MBNA. He opened the card whilst going on a business trip, at Stansted airport. The girl came up to him while he was at a check in and asked if he wanted the card and the incentive on it was free flights reward system. She filled in all the form for him and he just signed it. According to him their was no mention of ppi and it definately wasnt explained. I have the date the card started and he's still paying ppi to this day, last months ppi cover was £51!! Do I need to get MBNA to send me the agreement first as he hasnt got it or can I just fill in the form with the date the card started and all the info about how he was sold the ppi.TIA
Just email them nikki...good luck:j Let us know how you get onxx0 -
1st card done, 2nd one I am looking OH has had a letter back from Vanquis stating that they do not sell any type of Payment Protection Plan, yet on his statement he is paying Repayment Option Plan. Is that the same thing? I would have thought so or am I totally wrong? TIA
Hi nikki i should as Di has said think that this is just another name for ppi, theres so many names for it.0 -
Quick update, phoned Vanquis who really are insisting that a repayment option plan is not PPI. Was a bit concerned on this card as OH took it over the internet 5 years ago but have done a bit of delving and found out that the repayment option plan was not done on the internet but was sold to OH when he activated the card. Have spoken to Vanquis who knew exactly what I was up to when I asked if I could have a recording of the telephone sale. Have agreed that they will give it to me but can take up to 56 days. Patience is a virtue;) and I have plenty:)
Hi Nikkilala,
I've had a similar experience. I got my recording. On the recording the agent said the ROP (Repayment Option Plan) was 99p for every £100. The max I've had on my card is £1000 and some months they were taking in excess of £20 - so wrote in April to say something along the lines of... yes I agreed to it, but on the basis it was 99p for every £100 of debt. They've misled me, therefore missold the policy and I want my money back.
Sent my letter in May - I've had no reply. Sent a repeat letter at the end of July, no response. Phoned today at 5pm and someone called me back at 7.45pm - sadly was shopping so couldn't talk. Promised they'd call back tomorrow. We'll see.
I'll update as soon as I've spoke to them.Determined to be a thrifty Mama!0 -
Hi guys sorry to cut in on any conversations now heard back about 2 credit card claims and one small hsbc loan hsbc are upholding first, another 4 to go with them where i'm expecting to hear about the others by end of august, don't know what they are paying yet as there making a payment without admission of liability it doesn't mention actually being a goodwill payment though so whether they'll try to knock my interest i don't know.
1 mbna (won)

2 creditcards,1 loan hsbc (won) T.D0 -
Barclays FP have started issuing calculation letters with notices of acceptance where they state they will pay on completion in 28 days. Good news for pre April 21st claimees. Thing is I have seen three. One had the figures back to front although cheques added up to correct total. One missed out the refund of ppi payments and quoted a much lower interest payment and the third instead of crediting the balance of ppi payments off the loan they debited it adding the payments back on to the account instead of off it.
Message be very cautious of FP offer letters. Just a warning. I will keep you updated as and when re First Plus
