Rang RBS on THursday to ask why money had still not been transferred and got a rather flippant "you'll have to wait"........ Red Rag time, lost the plot and unloaded. Gentleman put me on hold for ten minutes and then said it would be in by Tuesday. Two minutes later got an e-mail from RBS apologising for delay and it would be sorted ASAP. Money in account by 15:00 that day.
Have to say didn't swear but was very close.

Hello, I wonder if anyone could offer me some advice? I was going through some old word documents on my computer when I came across 3 letters all dated August 2003 that I had written to the Co-Op, Capital One and MBNA respectively cancelling credit cards that I had with them all. I think I got a consolidating loan around that time so it must have been to do with that. They all have the Credit Card numbers on them but I have no idea whether I would have had PPI on them at the time. Is there any merit in asking whether I did or didn't and what would be the best way of approaching it - sending a letter/email to all three or making a phone call? I assume that as they are all older than 6 years they wouldn't have the information on their systems any longer so it would require a letter to them. If that is the case then where would I find the up-to-date contact information for them all?
Even if they did have PPI on them would I be too late to claim for mis-selling?
Any information or guidance would be most appreciated.something missing0 -

Hiya
Yes do ask about the PPI, just give them the account numbers and hopefully they will still be able to track them down, email, ring or write, or even call into the local bank.
With them being a bank, it's not too late to make a reclaim, mine was successful as from the late 90's via lloyds and I currently have more ongoing with them from accounts from the mid 90s.

To make a reclaim as above link to the questionnaire, or as in regards of Co op these details are directly on their website as well, good luck in your reclaiming.

Give them a ring, this is what I did and they just told me over the phone. You could also send them a letter asking for a copy of CCA with the terms and conditions, there is a link to this letter on this site, you will also need to include a fee of £1. This will show if the box for PPI is ticked or not. If they say they don’t have the records on they system you could try sending them a subject access request (SAR) this will cost you £10 but it means they have to send you everything they hold on you. Again there is a link to a great letter on this site (I cant post links but I’m sure one of the more experienced posters will be able to do this for you!) If you have any statements you should be able to see any PPI payments on these.
You are not to late to claim some people are claiming back from the 90's but you must be able to justify your reasons for miss selling. Once you are satisfied you had PPI on your loan/ credit cards all you need is the account numbers and your reasons for having the PPI missold then you can fill in the questionnaire and send it in.
Hope that this helps0 -
Thanks Di for the advice, I'll start with a phone call and work my way through the rest!:)something missing0

Hi folks, following a recently upheld claim from Black Horse, I thought I would try with my Hsbc loan but not really sure if I'd have a claim or not?
I took out the loan in 2006 to consolidate on another loan and more debt that I'd accrued. I remember being made to feel really stupid by the lady arranging the loan that I was still quite young and was having to get a second loan to consolidate my debt as I had got myself in quite a mess! I remember being shown a checklist to see if the ppi would be suitable for me but don't remember being given a quote for the loan without ppi. I don't remember being told it was optional and because of how the lady made me feel in the first place I didn't feel able to ask.
As you can see there is quite a bit I don't remember about the sale, so I'm not sure if it worth pursuing or not?
Any help would be appreciated0 -
When I decided to query all my PPI on credit cards I wrote to Beneficial Bank with whom I had had an OPen University Visa card for many years. I was aware that latterly they had stopped doing this card and the OU had transferred to another card provider, although by that time I had cancelled the card.
In February I received an offer from HFC bank giving the card account number and MBNA. HFC made me an offer of the last 6 years premiums, which wasn't a great deal, and when they refused to budge on this I accepted their offer in full and final settlement against the bank (HFC I assume).
I recently sent a SAR to MBNA for a different matter and have received statements for my Beneficial Bank card going back to 2002 but also the signed 1989 application form which shows a tick in the "tick if you do NOT want PPI" box.
Do I have any recourse as I accepted the offer from HFC. What is the position when you took out the card with one provider, but it has subsequently been transferred?
Feeling a bit miffed about this one.
On another claim I sent my acceptance form to RBS on 10th June for PPI on a credit card. Still not received reimbursement and they say huge backlog on credit card repayments. Over 2 months now!0 -
On this one I'd email stephen.hester@rbs.co.uk and kick up about this one, i'd be charging them £12 for each three day period that they've not paid you, after all if you miss the payment etc this is what they charge! On another claim I sent my acceptance form to RBS on 10th June for PPI on a credit card. Still not received reimbursement and they say huge backlog on credit card repayments. Over 2 months now! Thanks to all the competition posters.0
