    Any help would be appreciated

If you've been misold it's worth putting in a claim, unfortunately we can't promise that it will be finished overnight or you won't have any hassle at all but if you get recompense it'll be worth it, check the misold thread here and see if you have your reasons.

    Hi,
I had PPI with a finance agreement with DFS, got rejection letter, saying I was outwith time frame etc. Decided to phone and challenge them - after a bit of to and frowing they said they will refund all premiums paid as a gesture of goodwill.
We are going to accept as payments were £5.78 a month over 36 months - £208.08, so don't think 8% over and above this will make much difference or am I wrong?
Just a big thank you once again to all who take time to reply to my posts without all your good advice I could have never argued the point with them!!

Who did you contact regards this - DFS directly or the finance company ?? We had a loan from them a while back and was mulling over the idea of making a claim but wasn't sure who to contact.

    Hi there,
We contacted DFS directly, don't know whether you have all the details of PPI amount etc, if not maybe a good idea to contact finance company, which was Hitachi for us - who can give you a print out of all monies paid.
    Hope this was some help!

Update on my ongoing Barclaycard saga.
Had a call from a senior manager at Barclaycard on Friday afternoon after I had sent a quite cheeky email to the CEO tellling him how i was fed up getting made false promises of call backs etc from him staff and how unimpressed I was with their customer services. first they tell me lies then they promise me call backs etc etc.
Basically he told me mine was the most difficult claim he had ever encountered (bloody typical lol), they can not find any details of me anywhere he has tried various departments with no joy. My account numbers (they kept changin it) have originally only 11 digits and he has never came across anything like it. He has now requested that someone goes to the warehouse and physically looks through paperwork from 1995 to try and find me. I have a selection of statements but some of them are missing. He says it could take quite a long time so I would have to be patient (that wil be a first).
Nothing in my life ever seems to be simple lol

If you didn't understand what PPI meant and still took out a loan or mortgage, you're a moron.

Thank you for that valuable and worthwhile contribution
Its amazing how these banks can't even do simple calculations correctly..............
  • In 2007 I took out a loan from lloyds for 9.5k, I was just 18 at the time and had a 5 month old baby so needed the loan to buy a car and baby equipment. Anyway the lady who was my "advisor" told me that due to my age I would need to take out insurance or they would not lend me any money as I had virtually no credit history. I did have many savings with lloyds and other banks as well as money in the safe at home and my parents and grandparents would help me if I got really stuck and I told the lady this and that I did not need or want insurance but again she said it was needed due to my age. She then advised me I should also have life insurance as I had a child incase anything happened to me so I made an appointment with scottish widows there and then (I took out a policy the same month I got my loan). The loan advisor then looked at my accounts and worked out a monthly repayment that was affordable but I do not remember her teling me the total cost of the insurance as I would not have taken the loan if I had realised how much it would cost overall. So she printed some papers and showed me where to sign and as I was young and naive at the time I trusted her and signed them all, not really having chance to read them all. Stupid I now know.
Now 4 years on and I have realised what a stupid mistake I made, and would like to know if what they told me was wrong and if so what to do next. I am still paying the loan and insurance off at the minute.

    Thanks

Hi rodd there being shifty, you don't need the agreement but you do need the account numbers i would get back to them and threaten them with the fsa, i don't think these banks are or have any intention of playing the game i would contact the bank and threaten to report them to the fsa (sorry if this post been answered only just got back on here)

Cheers, spoke with Customer Services, and they agree with me, the loan was still active in 2006/2007, so the details of the agreement should still be on file.

They told me to send a £1 loan agreement copy request to a different address to the one I used for the SAR.

    Fingers crossed!
