The_Marksman wrote: »Hello There,
You can start a complaint if you have your account number/ Numbers. If not you may need to do a SAR request 1st which will cost £10 and will give you all the information held on yourself by the bank or CC company. Or if you still bank with them, drop into your local branch, they will have this information
Its easy to do yourself, so i would avoid a claims company.. You can do the complaint over the phone or via letter form, its up to you
to get you started, Look here for info and reasons for being miss-sold your ppi
Once you have had a read though and have your reasons. You will need to fill in a consumer complaints questionnaire. Which I would download, have a read though and familiarise yourself with the questionnaire and its layout. The questionnaire can be found here
the main info you will need to complete the questionnaire is:- Loan account number/numbers OR CC account number/ numbers
- start date
- finish date
- and your reasons
then complete the form and send it off. If you ring your bank or CC company they may have a ppi complaint line and can start your complaint for you over the phone but id get as much info ready before phoning them. If you start a complaint over the phone, they will ask the reasons why you felt mis-sold so have all the information ready and be prepared.
simples, hope that may help, good luck
Hi,
Firstly thanks for your reply, apprecaite it.
I did request SAR and that is when they replied saying couldn't find the documents although have given me the information you mentioned (account number, sort code, value, start and expiry date plus the amount of PPI per loan)
I have rang and complianed saying I was unaware of having PPI and wouldn't have agreed to it if knew.
With them not being able to find the documents surely they can't prove I agreed to it?
One last point, loan 1 was Jan 2003 - April 2003, loan 2 April 2003 - Jan 2004 and loan 3 Jan 2004 - Feb 2007. Can I claim these as sure read somewhere has to be within 6 years?
Thanks,
Daniel0 -

Damm, damm, damm.... got a letter from Lloyds this afternoon. The email address for Lloyds really works.
Basically because I passed the claim over to the FOS, Lloyds aren't going to deal with it in any way shape or form and leave it to FOS. They will leave my case as outstanding until FOS get back to them.
Spoke to FOS. My case has been in a pile for the last 2 months and not allocated to anyone, which could take up to 9 months. I asked if I could retract my complaint and have it sent back to Lloyds to deal with, they said I could do that if I wanted.
Anyone got any suggestions on what to do next ?? was expecting to have this sorted by the end of the month as per the information on the Lloyds website.0 -

You should be fine, they always say they cant find it! trust me they are looking at it as they tell you that!
Your last point is more or less when you become aware of the product being mis-sold and if one loan went into another and finished up in 2007 your well within 6 years and they will be able to go back, they will of course say they cant but if it comes to that post up and we will help you round that but all should be fine:D:p Perfer et obdurai dolor hic tibi proderit olim

Thanks, really usefull advice. They said take 12 working days to get a letter of confirmation out and then 16 weeks for a decision. Thanks again!!!0 -
Hi All,
I'm really intrigued by this and want to see if the other regulars agree on this
The current extension by the FSA gives 16 weeks for the bank to give a final response, but as from 1st September this changes to 12 weeks
So, should we just be telling everyone considering a claim to hang fire until 1st September (send cclaim recorded on 31st August for instance), that way their 12 week deadline is reached on 24th November, rather than (for instance) sending today and the 16 weeks being reached December 5th?-
Congratulations to all who have got their PPI back!

So the last time I posted about my progress was last year. Well indeed like many of us HSBC customers we have been waiting with baited breath to see what happened after the judicial review. Last month I received a generic letter informing me that I would receive a decision on all my PPI complaints by the end of August.
Today I received another letter from HSBC- to be honest I was expecting bad news. BUT it is good news. They said they were unable to respond to specific issues raised but on this occaision were prepared to uphold my complaint on miss-selling PPI and I'll receive a settlement proposal within the next four weeks! And that is for four personal loans...shame they could not have admitted they did wrong in the first place!
I hope this will also include the adjustment to my current personal loan- of which I am still paying PPI on each month!
:j
Sorry if I'm a numpty. Just to clarify- I still have a loan with PPI running. Now that they are assessing and calculating all my previous PPI payments for "redress" - does this mean I will get a refund back into my bank account for all the payments I have ever made? And my current personal loan will that be restructured to lose the PPI payment? Or will they just take the money I've paid out and take it off my exisiting loan?
Sorry for all the questions!
cheers0 -
this could be a case of a banker getting into our forum ian,who else would think the way that dawn thinks, whatever way you look at it we were all conned by slick bank "salesman" who should have known better as you say who are the baddies here, not the consumer me thinks, maybe this is why the banks got whooped in the j.r because the bank was in the right and the vengeful consumer just went after the poor innocent bank, what rot, lol, the banks have conned billions of pounds out of laymen dawn,we are not sales advisors, you cannot expect the general public to know 100% what they are buying most people believed what they were told by the banks, how silly of us.0

you sound like you've got it right there pedro, hole in one as they say, money if you have a loan going will probably be used to pay off the existing credit if your reclaims tote up to more than the loan, then the loan will be paid off and any balance paid to you if the amount is smaller than the loan i.e a much larger loan then the money will be paid back to you and the loan restructered to put you back in the position you would have been in had the ppi not been applied.:)0 -
