Evening all, just a quickie - I rang First Direct earlier in the week to check up on a couple of PPI complaints (loans not CC) which I sent in early May and I was told 16 weeks which is correct, but the lady then said that the 16 weeks runs from the date that they sent out the "16 week" letter not when they received my complaints which puts me near the end of October not early September!

This has been wriggling in my brain for several days and I can't work it out - help please.

I always thought it was from the date you raised the complaint. Someone will probably confirm that for you.

    Sorry it's not a concrete answer. :)

I've received an offer from LloydsTSB, I imagine a lot of people have received this letter. It basically says, please accept what we are GOING to calculate so we can speed up the process. They then outline that this is what they will do:

I should have checked here first, but I accepted anyway, as it looks correct. Does anyone know how long this takes from sending it usually?

    Well done myk,nice one:j:beer::money::D:T:):):):):):):):)

Hi i might be wrong but i thought that the 16 weeks was over at the end of august, saying that ian did say that some of them were due to have investigations concluded in september but i think it generally depends when your claim went in.

    Hi Di,

Its been a while so thought I'd update you on my progress. I went back to hsbc and gave them a rocket and fired off emails to their customer services dept with proof of postage and original docs I'd submitted in June. Got a response on the 14th September acknowledging my complaints stating I would be waiting 8 weeks. Given that they'd lost the originals I allowed the process to run its course.

On the 13th Oct they contacted me again by letter asking for more time (standard stalling tactic) but did supply docs for me to escalate to the FOS.

On the 28th October they contacted me again to say that they would be unable to provide a response, as the standards which my complaint should be assessed (FSA policy statement on PPI complaints) are subject to legal proceedings between the BBA and FSA.

Now having scanned the forum I'm aware there are others in a smilar boat. But is there a form of words I can use to rebuke their stance- as surely they have an aboligation to continue to process claims? And what should I do next?

And I'm still paying my PPI on my exisiting loan, despite stating I am not happy paying it/don't want it- so should hsbc put payments on hold etc when complaint have been made about financial products?

    Thanks>

So the last time I posted about my progress was last year. Well indeed like many of us HSBC customers we have been waiting with baited breath to see what happened after the judicial review. Last month I received a generic letter informing me that I would receive a decision on all my PPI complaints by the end of August.

Today I received another letter from HSBC- to be honest I was expecting bad news. BUT it is good news. They said they were unable to respond to specific issues raised by me but on this occaision were prepared to uphold my complaints on miss-selling PPI and I'll receive a settlement proposal within the next four weeks! And that is for four personal loans...shame they could not have admitted they did wrong in the first place!

I hope this will also include the adjustment to my current personal loan- of which I am still paying PPI on each month!

    Hi Cappo,
The 31st of August is when complaints put in before the Judicial Review was finalised have to be given a final decision.
For those complaints put in from the JR date until the 31st August have 16 weeks to give a final decision.
For those that put in a complaint on or after 1st September until 31st December will have 12 weeks to receive their final decision.
On or after 1st January 2012 they will all go back to 8 weeks for the final decision.

Hope this helps, hope you're well.:D
Thanks to all the competition posters.
  • I need some advice please!

I took out a loan with MoneyBackBank.co.uk in September 2005.

I don't have any of the paperwork to hand though, and the company (which is a subsidiary of Santander) no longer exists.

I sent a subject access request along with a £10 cheque to Santander asking for the details of the agreement.

I have just received it all back saying they don't keep files over 6 years old (it hasn't been 6 years yet).

I believe it was a 2 year loan, so it would still have been active in 2007, surely details of the agreement would still be on their systems?

Am I screwed because I don't have the original paperwork?

    HELP! :(
