Thank you Di and Amersall - I will contact the FSCS and check if they will handle this and if they won't I will contact the FOS about the original insurer, which I think is on another letter from Citroen.

    Hi,

I have tried to fill in the questionnairs for a loan and a Credit card that my husband took out before we met, which he didn't even know he was paying insurance on.

The loan has a policy number but I wasn't sure if the Credit card is suppose to have a policy number too for the PPI. Don't want to wait to get a reply to the request for data information if there is no need. I was wondering though if it is enough with just the Credit card account number from the statements?

    Thanks for any input!

hi mrs boat you should have a credit card number and a separate policy number for the ppi (i think) but the account number should be enough

Hi there, the credit card number on the statement is the number you use, also the loan account number, they will find the accounts and the ppi.

I've had a letter from Halifax regarding ppi for a credit card I took out in 2005. To be honest I don't remember even taking it out, whether it was even an option or not. And what's more I still have it. It's unlikely I'd be made redundant from my post and have been reassured as such from managers in my organisation. This has been the situation since 2009 and was certainly a similar situation for me in a previous role between 2004-2007. My husband had good cover and full time work at the time (we weren't married then but owned a property together), I had 3 months illness cover with my job. Do I have a claim? I have asked for the t&c's and will cancel the ppi tomorrow now the penny has dropped!

    Hi there

And yes its a possible case here, however it maybe worth you holding back on the cancellation, some will suggest to do that as they may not reduce the amount by much at this point because the cooling period was probably about 30 days to do this, although you are able to cancel at anytime.

So basically if you are successful they will then have to refund you all you paid in ppi, plus interest paid etc and then if the loan is still active the amount should therefore be reduced if done this way.

Complete the reclaim questionnaire as on step 3 below, send to the ones who sold you the account, head or complaints dept, keep a copy for yourself as well.
They normally have 8 weeks to give a decision, but some have been given more time due to backlogs, they will let you know in writing if this is the case.
    Good luck.

Looking back on your post, with it being a credit card ppi, I don't think it will matter then if you cancel now or later.
