    Morning all

I have received notification regarding a store card that was opened in 1996 (Wallis) that PPI insurance was offered and sold in store at the same time customers applied for the storecard, it was not compulsory and was sold alongside the storecard on a non-advised basis with no recommendations given, as long as customers met the eligibility criteria for this product, eg age, employment status etc., I have advised them that I was not in employment at that time (young housewife), so they want proof, but I am unsure where I get proof from? Any ideas?

I also they state the insurance has (in fact should read had as cancelled a few years ago) attached to the account for years, and shown on statements, so why have I not queried until now - they welcome my comments.

I would never have agreed this insurance as was not able to make a claim anyway, never given an option to opt out, they say themselves, it was automatically added in store unless did not meet criteria (which I didn't) I cancelled when I realised I could many years later, but only recently aware of the mis-selling option and able to claim back.

    Any suggestions please. Thank you.

You could ask the tax office or National insurance office to confirm you made no contributions in that time period and ask them to put it into a letter for you ;)

  • Hello, this is the first time I have posted so forgive me if I'm doing it all wrong. I am in financial difficulties and hoping to reclaim ppi. I took out a loan with my partner in 1999 when heavily pregnant, I could not return to work due to severe post natal depression, I tried to claim but was told pregnancy related conditions were not covered. We fell behind with this loan and in 2004 the Halifax contacted me by phone and asked if I wanted to restructure the loan in order to reduce the monthly payments, that is what I did and the loan is to finish in two months time (I know..11 years!). I do not believe the new restructured amount included ppi but I am sure that the original loan did. I've read so much on here but it's all left me kind of confused as to what to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Hello There,

I would ring them and ask them as they should be able to tell you, if ppi was on the first loan and even the 2nd. Just a word of warning, they may start the complaint over the phone so be prepared and read all the info related to making a claim first and have your reasons for being mis-sold ready ;)

to get you started, Look here for info and reasons for being miss-sold your ppi

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/rec...nsurance#step2

Once you have had a read though and have your reasons. You will need to fill in a consumer complaints questionnaire. Which I would download, have a read though and familiarise yourself with the questionnaire and its layout. The questionnaire can be found here

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/rec...nsurance#step3

the main info you will need to complete the questionnaire is:
    1. Loan account number/numbers OR CC account number/ numbers
    2. start date
    3. finish date
    4. and your reasons
also have a read here for even more information:

    http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.u...PPI-forms.html

then complete the form and send it off. If you ring your bank or CC company they may have a ppi complaint line and can start your complaint for you over the phone but id get as much info ready before phoning them.

simples, hope that may help, good luck :D

Hi taw and welcome the first thing to do is check on the link here to see if you have reasons for putting in a misold claim, secondly if you have you could do it in two ways contact the bank and put in a claim over the phone or fill in the ppi questionaire and submit to the relevant department of your bank check the link below

sorry marksman, did'nt realise you'd already posted on this one, never read your post. (it takes me so long to type lol i was probably still typing when you submitted your post.)
  • Many thanks for quick replies. I have printed off the questionnaire and the notes. When I tried to claim at the time and couldn't I felt I had been duped into taking it out, but I didn't know I could claim it back and it happened at a time I was in a very bad place. As I said I was heavily pregnant and if I had been told any related problems weren't covered I could have looked for something more appropriate rather than be without any cover at all. Is that reason enough to try? Thanks again.

One is a touch discombobulated this morning.

I called HBOS to check where my complaint was upto as my deadline is the 24th and thought that it may have been upheld and just being calculated.

Do you remember me saying that I had worked out my deadline to be the 31st exactly at 16 weeks and my complaint handler said it was the 24th.

Well today she told me that mine must be near the top of the pile, because the deadline is (wait for it) the 31st :mad:

Not exactly filled with confidence when they are unable to count 16 weeks forward on a calendar !!!!!!.

Anyway, fingers crossed and all the jazz :rotfl:
