Hey, I have a question.

I recieved a letter from HBOS this morning informing me I had PPI on my CC. Fact is, I had no idea! I got my credit card along with my student account. It was just send to me through the mail, nothing discussed other than 'do you want a CC with your new account?'.

Do I have a claim? :s

Hi there

If you did not know that you were paying ppi on your credit card then you do have a possible case, to make a reclaim by following the steps below - step 3 the reclaim questionnaire (unless they have already enclosed one with the letter), remember to keep a copy for yourself as well, they normally have 8 weeks, but may ask for more time as there are backlogs.
Good luck.

• Hi All. First time on here, so please bear with me.
I am trying to help my Mum and Dad reclaim PPI on a credit card that they have had for 15 to 20 years.
We sent a letter, with a cheque for £1, on 13th July to the local branch of the Yorkshire Bank asking for T&Cs.
We have not heard anything back. My parents are both OAPs and never realised what they were paying.
They do not remember exactly when they took out the credit card, and the oldest statement they can find dates back to 2001. Do we just start the claim process, or contact again for T&Cs...

Hello There,

You can start a complaint if you have your account number. ;)

to get you started, Look here for info and reasons for being miss-sold your ppi

http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/rec...nsurance#step2

Once you have had a read though and have your reasons. You will need to fill in a consumer complaints questionnaire. Which I would download, have a read though and familiarise yourself with the questionnaire and its layout. The questionnaire can be found here

http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/rec...nsurance#step3

the main info you will need to complete the questionnaire is:
1. Loan account number/numbers OR CC account number/ numbers
2. start date
3. finish date
4. and your reasons
also have a read here for even more information:

http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/publications/technical_notes/ppi/guide-to-PPI-forms.html

then complete the form and send it off. If you ring your bank or CC company they may have a ppi complaint line and can start your complaint for you over the phone but id get as much info ready before phoning them.

simples, hope that may help, good luck :D

Thank you Di. I thought a polite but firm email wouldn't hurt so I sent it and 2 hours later I had an email from Matthew Brandrick, a Case Manager in the complaints dept, who said he has been asked to handle the case and will get back to me within 7 working days but that I can contact him if I need an update before then.
I will keep you updated.

I sent an email to CEO of mbna and got the same reply so hopefully he is busy working for all of us on mse....:)

Marksman gave some good advice, just to add to that YB don't have a ppi complaints line, but you can use the FOS consumer complaint form and fill in as much details as possible and send it off to

Clydesdale Bank Plc/Yorkshire Bank,
PPI Team, 2nd Floor,
Royal Exchange House,
100 Queen Street,
Glasgow,
G1 3DN

Here is an email address also which is quite handy to keep a hold of

AQU.PPI@eu.nabgroup.com

CEO is david.thorburn@eu.nabgroup.com

They also weren't part of the judicial review either but will probably keep you hanging on for somewhere between 8-16 weeks for a decision.
In regards to your t&c's the local branch have probably sent it to head office to deal with, hence the delay. Try calling or speaking to your local branch you should've received an acknowledgement at least.
Good luck and keep us posted.
Thanks to all the competition posters.

Would any of u lovely people be able to help me??

Had another conversation with B/card today and it would appear someone is going to call me to obtain more information. I can only assume they are not able to locate all my details as initially they told me i didn't have ppi, so i posted them a selection of statements.
My problem is I can guess from my statements roughly when the account was opened I reckon 1995 Aprilish. I can see I have paid ppi until May 2000.This is all the statements I have Although I kinda guess I paid it until maybe 2002/2003 ish.

By adding the statements I have, I have proof of paying £755 this ranges from payments of £10.50 to £25.90, the ranges of interest vary between 1.55% per month to 1.44% per month. The balance varys between 1k and 3k.

If they are unable to locate my details which is looking likely, what should I be asking for by way of a refund??

Can any of u wonderful people help? :)

Hi LynK,
If you have proof for a certain length of time then you should be able to get that at the very least, I think i've read somewhere that they can use these figures to work out from start to finish what you've paid, most of these lenders must have your account history from start to finish, whether they admit it or not is another matter completely.
Good luck and keep us posted.
Thanks to all the competition posters.

Hi Emma

As Cappo says, your time will come honey, stay strong now, that interest is adding up too.:D;) xx

Thanks hun

I'm just going to wait now, I will give them their time. It's got to be a good outcome. They can't string people along for 10 months and then reject.

Hope everyone has been safe the last few days. It was bad here in Manchester last nite.

Good news for everyone soon. :)

Hang in there Emma, the wait will be worth its rewards ;)

Safe here, if your scared ;)

• Morning all

I have received notification regarding a store card that was opened in 1996 (Wallis) that PPI insurance was offered and sold in store at the same time customers applied for the storecard, it was not compulsory and was sold alongside the storecard on a non-advised basis with no recommendations given, as long as customers met the eligibility criteria for this product, eg age, employment status etc., I have advised them that I was not in employment at that time (young housewife), so they want proof, but I am unsure where I get proof from? Any ideas?

I also they state the insurance has (in fact should read had as cancelled a few years ago) attached to the account for years, and shown on statements, so why have I not queried until now - they welcome my comments.

I would never have agreed this insurance as was not able to make a claim anyway, never given an option to opt out, they say themselves, it was automatically added in store unless did not meet criteria (which I didn't) I cancelled when I realised I could many years later, but only recently aware of the mis-selling option and able to claim back.

Any suggestions please. Thank you.
