Blimey, that should not be right, if in this scenario surely then they should offer this then as a goodwill offer, they should not in my opinion send you an offer (which you signed and accepted) then change their flipping minds.

I would speak to the FOS about this one and tell them you will be contacting the FSA, or contact the FSA anyway, this is not the way to treat customers.

I have written a letter and copied to the CEO of HSBC.

My point is that if they had the paperwork to hand to make me an offer on 11th July, which they said they did after "further investigation" and knew the exact amount of PPI paid, how can they then say on 19th July that they cannot find any paperwork to support the fact that I had PPI. If they have lost the paperwork in the interim that is their problem not mine.

I have copied them their letter of the 11th and the associated figures. The letter of the 19th July makes no reference at all to that of the 11th July.

I think they are the ones that are totally confused. If they refuse to pay I will certainly be taking this further.

If I remember from earlier posts a similar thing happened to someone else with another bank, but was sorted out satisfactorily. Here's hoping.

hi kl i would'nt worry to much about this as i would think a different person in another department has looked at it, they can't uphold it then reject it,contact them this is obviously a mistake

They have got confused by the seems of it, maybe with another loan, but this you had complained about was resolved, maybe now they will see this as a mistake and put this right, but as you said, they had the paperwork, and now they're saying they don't!
Something not right about this one.

    Hi

I have been in contact with FOS for updates but they just keep saying my complaint is waiting to be allocated to an adjudicator and it could take up to 9 months for this to happen! They have heard nothing from barclays as well.

I will email the CEO thanks for the email address and the advise :)
You should have had the goodwill letter, do as Di says and email the ceo,get proof that you are in the group who are getting this gesture.

Also, when Barclays pay up,you will get yours and you will not have to wait for FOS i wouldnt have thought, as Barclays only have until the end of august to sort the claims out that were on hold due to the jr.
