    Hi

Yes I heard the same as well.;)

Hopefully others will do the same, if they had any sense they will.:)

Hi is this 100% true about HBOS following Barclays and paying out? I really hope so as i've got 3 with Halifax, all before the JR! :D Don't want to get my hopes up.
I've tried searching the net but can't find anything. Has anyone got a link to this? :)
  • I've just googled it and found a post that refers to it on the legal beagles forum. Can't post links myself so you'll have to do the googling again yourself. Seems to have come from a phone call rather than any announcement as yet. Unless anyone has found anything else?

Good evening. After some advice on pip claims.

I good few years ago ( due to being wholly stupid with a credit card) I took out a loan with beneficial finance to sort sort out my debts.

Probably about a year or two after in 2007 they offered to re-finance that to change the monthly payment and consolidate everything I had in one place, on both these loans I took the ppi as I didn't really know what it was and the sales person made it out to be the best thing since sliced bread, and that it would pay out if I was off work sick for a period of time, or if the worst happened and I died. He asked a couple of questions about savings and sick pay (which I said is was eligible for company sick pay over ssp) which isn't on any of the documents I signed.

At this point I had little experience with loans except for a £1000 loan I took with egg which never mentioned anything about ppi. And it was portrayed as just something that came with relatively large loans, roughly £7000 at first, then re-financed to £10,371, the questions asked were put forward as a mere formality, which very quickly came to the conclusion that I needed the ppi, so I (stupidly) agreed to this and signed away on the forms thrust in front of me, thinking it was something that although optional was just part of how it was done and was included in the loan, to the point where I've been paying it like a muppet for the past 4/5 years oblivious to the fact that I could have cancelled it at any time, as the forms for it were treated as such a formality I didn't take the time tonread them fully.

I have now paid over £2,700 in ppi payments on the second loan, and god knows how much on the first (which was cleared when I took the second)

I haven't made a claim on it as well I haven't been I'll, but my company sick pay covers enough for anything but a most grievous illness anyway.

Just wondering if it's worth making a claim or not really?

I know beneficial have been done over their miss selling of ppi and personally I don't feel as if I needed it or really wanted it but was made to feel not that I had to but that it was an associated cost that comes in with the loan.

Any help would be much appreciated, and apologies for any dodgy spelling, I'm writing this on my iPad.

    Hi and welcome

And no worries, the main of us have been there and ripped off big time.

I would certainly give it a go, you were obviously pressurised into taking it out despite the fact that you explained you were covered with your employer, they ignored the fact and did not give you any other opportunity.

If mis sold on a few of them by the same company, then I would make the reclaim on all that apply by completing the reclaim questionnaire as on step 3 below, I personally suggest to complete separate questionnaires per reclaim so that they don't get confused.
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#step3

so complete and send to the complaints dept or main head office of whoever sold you the accounts, and keep copies as well, allow 8 weeks for a decision, you may hear of a decision before that or they may ask for more time, they should though confirm they received your complaint within a week or 2 after you send them.

    Hope this helps, good luck.

Thanks, for the advice. got a couple of days off now so will give this a go, have seen some things about beneficial not really existing anymore and have been absorbed by hsbc, so do I need to get in touch with hsbc or can i still go through beneficial ?

    Your welcome.

You could check with the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) who will know or at least check this out for you.
I thought they were still active, but I may be mistaken.
Call the FOS on the free-phone number below, good luck let us know how you get on, cheers.;)

    Hi all,

I'm new to the whole forum thing, so please bear with me.....I've spent a fair while reading this thread, & there's loads of useful info on it - thanks everyone for all this!

I'd be grateful for any advice, I'll try to keep this as brief as I can:

I've had a credit card with HSBC for a number of years, since the early 1990's. I can't really remember actually asking for it, I think it might have been one of those pre-approved things? Anyway, its got PPI on it, and I think it was one of those that was compulsory.
I did actually make a claim in about 1997-ish as I was off work sick for some time, I could have paid the balance without the PPI but I thought oh well, I've got it, might as well use it.
So, as it was compulsory, is that mis-selling even tho it was a while ago?
Roughly 2001 I contacted them to say that i was going to be self-employed and was the PPI still valid or could I cancel it, & I was told (via a phone call) that if i did that they would cancel my card and that the balance would then be owed in full immediately. So, stupidly, I did nothing about it.
I think I have probably paid quite a lot in fees each month as I used it fairly extensively for convenience and for the safety of protection when booking holidays etc.
Could I claim the ppi from the time I became self employed as it was then essentially useless to me? Would they have the recording of the phone call so that I could prove that they said they would cancel the card?

If anyone thinks I have a valid case, would you mind telling me briefly what documents to request and the timeframes etc - I know its on this forum, but its sooooooo long, I keep losing track of whats what & I don't want to mess this up!

    Thanks so much everyone! :)

    Hi and welcome,

Well if you think you have a case then go for it.:)

Basically as well you can still make a reclaim on the one you claimed on, but the amount will be reduced on that one, due to using some of the ppi, and also depending on your reasons etc.

And also to be told if you cancelled you would have to pay the full balance immediately is wrong and mis-leading, I understand this is a common complaint, and personally with your reasons I would give it a shot, just as long as you have the account number details, you can continue to make a reclaim.

All you do is complete a reclaim questionnaire - step 3 below, send to the ones who sold you the account- complaints or main head office, allow 8 weeks, they may ask for more time.
Also keep copies for yourself as well.
    Good luck.

    Hi,

    Can anyone help please??

I am trying to reclaim PPI back on a Capital One credit card i took out in 2004, i have sent the initial letter asking for my T&C's and they have written back to say they arent obliged to send me them as i have just cancelled my account. Do i need the T&C's to make a claim and if i do what should i say in my next letter to them to ensure i get them?

    Many thanks
    Hi

Amazed to receive an E-mail back together with a copy of my application form.
True to form, after careful consideration one and a half working days ?
