Wohoo just to let you know I have had a phone call from the claims company dealing with my HFC PPi and they have awarded me £1350.
Also JD Williams Simply be sent me a final notice refusing my claim, so I rang them today and spoke to the claims manager.
I argued that I did not take out the PPi over the phone and asked if they had transcripts of the phone calls, she said they had, but after listening to me politely stating my case and the fact that the letter said I had benefited from the PPI(never claimed) It was called PAP(Personal account protection)She agreed to refund my PPi and was very nice after I stated that I was in the process of sending my documents to the ombudsman.
Please don't give up if you are waiting , keeping calling for updates as advised by these brilliant folks on this site.Thank youxxx

Hi all,
Well I emailed the CEO of Lloyds at the weekend to chase up my 3 ongoing complaints with them, earliest one being since December 2010. Had a missed call off Halifax Monday and Tuesday but no voicemails left. I emailed the CEO again last night explaining that I work in a Hospital therefore can't answer my phone and would be grateful if someone could email me instead. Haven't heard anything today, but did receive a letter from Halifax dated 27th June basically saying my 3 complaints are logged on their systems and I will have a response by end August.
Thats not good enough really, it means my complaints would of taken them over 8 months to deal with. I feel like i'm getting nowhere with Halifax.
Should I just try to be patient and hope my turn will come soon? Or shall I email the CEO again? If so what can I say this time?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Hiya
Maybe your CEO email have crossed with the post you received, and they may still get back to you.
I always say there is no harm in keeping on, it worked for me.;)
But even though they have said about the extended time given from the FSA, they may still resolve yours before then, so fingers crossed they will. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
I've been reading some posts from other consumer sites which suggests that the miss-selling claims are not going as well as we'd hope. Companies starting to toughen up on claims, letting folk appeal to the ombudsman because they know fewer applicants will follow this through and that the delays there are almost crippling. Using jargon and legalese to confuse applicants to put them off (experts reviewing some of the replies astounded at the reasons for rejections). Then that the FOS are rushing into decisions to the cost of the consumer. I really hoped that more companies would follow the Barclays route but it would appear not.
Anyone in the know who could shed any light or comfort on this?0 -

Nice onE Cappo, two paragraphs I liked
1:Senior policymakers told the banks to put their house in order yesterday to restore public trust in their battered reputations. Top politicians and regulators told an audience of senior bankers to stop complaining and accept responsibility for reckless behaviour and ripping off customers.
2: Hector Sants, the chief executive of the Financial Services Authority, again scolded banks for fighting the watchdog's ruling on compensating people who had been missold payment protection insurance (PPI).
BUT will the Banks listen ..... ???? See this is the problem, the FSA is just a watchdog, they should be made a real financial authority with clout0 -
morning one and all
first time on here and after a bit of advice
took out a loan with Paragon Finance for £15000 with a ppi of 2025 added in March 2003
i have got all the paperwork for this loan plus a cash back certificate saying that they would pay back the ppi on the 10th anniversary if i had not claimed basically
sent off my consumer questionnaire etc with copies of there paperwork
got a reply yesterday from paragon saying that the application for the loan was submitted by a broker called Loanmaker Ltd who are no longer trading and they handled all paperwork and only forwarded it to paragon once we had signed the credit agreement?
they also say that as the loan completed before 14 January 2005 the sale of insurance was not regulated by the fsa, Is that true?
On the certificate of ppi insurance it does say that the insurance has been specially arranged for customers of paragon who have a secured loan.
the insurance was underwritten by London and Edindurgh insurance ltd
what road do i need to go down now help!!0 -

Ok, so you arranged via the broker Loanmaker who were just an agent for Paragon. Loanmaker would have received a commission for doing this.
I am guessing it is Paragon who paid the money to you together with the certiificate. Was it Paragon who issued the certificate ??
If so, it is their responsibility not the middle man who went bust.
In your case, even though it was not regulated by the FSA, the certificate will form a contract, you need to dig deeper here0 -
I had a similar problem with MBNA that they sent me the refund balance but did not clear my account balance.
I sent an email to CEO ian.odoherty@bankofamerica.com and the card credit was done the next day
Hope this helps.
Just want to say thank you to klflosser. I emailed Ian O'Doherty (CEO MBNA) this morning regarding my outstanding cheque for £1500 and got a phone call literally 10 mins later to say my cheque will be posted out tonight and was very apologetic about the delay. Thank you soo much!0 -
