PPI Reclaiming Discussion part 4

Just looking back on a few posts it seems GE Capital, although having already been fined for PPI mis-selling are getting away with it as regards the Store Cards that they sold in the past which are now handled by Santander.
I know I had them thrown at me in the past, being asked every time I went to the till 'would I like to save 10% off my shopping if I opened a store account' and ended up with at least 4 of these accounts. All opened within minutes by untrained staff who definately did not mention 'optional' PPI!
Is it worth trying to get my money back? I've closed all these accounts within the last 6 years so was wondering whether to request a SAR as this should at least tell me when all my records were 'disposed of'. Would one SAR do for all the GE Capital accounts do you think?
Seems to me these accounts were the biggest con of all and there must be millions of them! Anyone had any luck with the likes of Debenhams, Dorothy Perkins, Laura ashley, Burton Group etc.? Thanks!!0 -

It really shouldn't be that hard to get the banks to play fair...I actually thought that the Judicial Review would compell them to behave in a more professional way to their customers...( how naive am I?:o)
They are fobbing us off, stalling and generally behaving like cowboys..it's shameful..hopefully that won't stop us getting our money!
Keep going...you have come this far!:) x
I think we all thought that and could be forgiven for thinking that the banks would at last pull there fingers out, As you've said we should have known better should'nt we?0 -

It's got to be worth a try if the stores don't play fair. Like the banks i would imagine you could sar them as if there's a credit facility it would have to be regulated, I think one sar for ge money should do it and it should show up everything they have on you,you should'nt have to go to these extremes should you but it seems that you do and i don't think that unless we fight for the right to claim we will get fobbed off everytime. stay strong.0 -
I have rang BOS this morning and they have told me that my claim is now with the assment team, does that mean that I am progressing ?
Also rang Marbles to be told the debt belongs to HFC bank.,who are investigating.
I have also sent letters to Halifax, no reply been 10 days not even an acknowledgement letter,I handed this to my local Branch
I also have a paid off Loan with PPI being investigated by HFC through a claims mangement company which is a nightmare.
And finally I have put in a claim for redemtion charges on 2 secured loans that I paid off early and this was done by email, they have acknowledged back and rang them this morning my claim is being investigated for another 4 wks which takes me to the 17/07/11.
Good news for everyone who have been sucessfull.
Wish me luck0 -

Hi to all
I too am in the process of claiming back mis-sold PPI for Debenhams, Wallis, Dorothy Perkins storecards, and Santander have come up with the same excuses as others posted on here.
I am not going to give up without a fight because when these cards were opened, I was a housewife with three young children at home, and my husband was self-employed so not suitable for either of us. The latest rejection I received from Santander relates to a Debs card saying that due to the age of the card 1998 they will not uphold my complaint and say that I can now refer to the FLA as outside of the FOS jurisdiction.
What would others do - I am certainly going to take this further, but should I go to the FOS in the first instance (as I have with an old Grattan account) or straight to the FLA. If the FLA, do I complete the same form?
Thanks for your advice.0 -

Hello there
And good for you too.:T
what I would do due to them not being regulated by the FSA when you taken these out, is contact the FLA, ask if they can help, if they do not, then contact the FOS anyway, and they may suggest another avenue, or to go directly the insurer/underwriter route instead, they have done this with many of us, but are not able to investigate complaints against a firm who were not regulated by the FSA, but the insurer/underwriter were highly likely to be regulated.
So contact the FLA first, at least you can let the FOS know you have tried this route.
However, someone did post up a few weeks ago they were successful in a case when complained to the FLA, not sure now of the circumstances behind the case but try anyway, if this fails then contact the general customer query line - FOS.
Good luck, please keep us posted, cheers. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Despite my numerous letters to Hester, the "fob off's" keep on coming
Latest from the RBS says
" I am sorry you are unhappy that Mr Hester has not replied to you personally. Regrettably, our board of directors receive an extraordinary amount of mail on a daily basis. I am also sorry we have been unable to find a mutually suitable conclusion to your case"
I wonder why they get so many letters ???? Guess we know.
They do not want to find a conclusion to the case do they, even though they stole my money which is fraud.
MY LETTER BACK TO HESTER
Royal Bank Of Scotland
First Floor, The Business House F
P.O.BOX 1000
Gogarburn
Edinburgh EH12 1HQ
PERSONAL ATTENTION OF STEPHEN HESTER, GROUP CHIEF EXECUTIVE
16th June 2011
Dear Sir,
Yet another "fob off" letter, this time from your Allan Robertson. Clearly Mr Robertson does not read letters as again, you have failed to answer my question ???
YOUR MAXINE DOHERTY SAID:-
" However, as you are unable to provide any additional information for me to take into account, I am unable to change my previous decision" ???
I ASKED YOU:-
What additional information is that Mr. Hester ???? Can you please enlighten me
Mr Hester, as you have all the information, it is the belief of most now that despite the recent High Court case, you have no intention of repaying monies you stole from people from offering PPI's that were not worth the paper they were written on.
False representation is an act of fraud as covered by the Fraud Act 2006.
I do not and WILL NOT accept any more of your "fob off" letters. I have placed with the Royal Bank of Scotland a claim for compensation. I will persue this claim against you and will now encourage others to do the same if they were damaged by your bank.
Furthermore, as the conclusion is that you are not interested in paying monies back, it is now prudent to pass this information to the FSA and FOB for their consideration. I am also passing this to my MP with a request for him to report back to me on this very serious matter
Yours faithfully0 -
Thanks Di
When you say contact the FLA first, do you mean by telephoning them or sending them something in writing?0
