Hi there, i would assume they would find your account from the sar request from your name and address, what puzzles me is the fact they cannot find your account, so how will they find it for £10?.
    :rotfl:
Have you looked at your credit report or, if you have online banking you could check there.

I agree with amersall as i said in my post banks do find account numbers hsbc found 5 of mine LTSB found 3 it sounds like the lender could just be trying it on,i had Ltsb originally tell me i had no ppi on any accounts as it was going back 17 years i could'nt prove otherwise,i knew i had it but could'nt prove it as like yourself had no paperwork but just stuck in there have you considered contacting the ceo of the company via email it worked for me, di is the magician with email addys she should be on later

I am not doing very well with my claims!!! I had two letters today, as follows:

Direct Line - I had a loan with them a few years ago but couldnt find the account number, I sent off a letter with a cheque for £1. They have now written back to me stating that they cannot trace the account without the account number, please provide us with the account number and they will search their records. They then go on to say "please also be aware that processing such request for a close account requires a fee of £10 by cheque made payable to "The Royal Bank of Scotland Group". Now do I need to find the account number before sending off the £10 or if I send this will they then be able to find the account number - I am a bit confused now!!

Capital One - in my naivity before finding this site I applied through a company for the return of my PPI on a credit card with Capital One. I didnt hear anything from this company for weeks (still not either to be honest) so I thought they had forgotton so decided to send the form off myself. Capital One have now written back stating that they sent me a final response letter dated 14.4.2011 to Ashworth Law and enclosed a copy apologising if I hadnt got this letter. So on two accounts I am annoyed I dont now know if Ashworth Law are doing anything about it or where I stand. Capital One in this letter state that I opened a credit card account via a postal application and ticked the PPI box, and then go on to say that they have found no evidence of a mis-sale and that details of the policy were in the leaflet enclosed about the PPI and that it was always stated on my monthly statements and that during this time I had an option to cancel this policy free of charge. There is also quite a lot that they say. Now I probably did tick the box as I would have been worried that I wouldnt be accepted if I hadnt, I never actually needed this PPI but didnt realise at the time. Do you think it would be worth me now contacting the FOS or do you think that there would be no point - plus I dont even know if this Ashworth Law have contacted the FOS or not. They never informed me that they had received this letter at all.

Hi dizzy when you send off your sar request send all the info you have d.o.b address, middle name or initial everything relevant you can remember, the bank will find your account number

I rang RBS today just to chase up were my reclaim is upto, the lady I spoke to told me that the 8week deadline is 10th July but it's unlikely they will have dealt with it by then as there still gathering information plus the amount of claims they have at the moment, as this week is the 4th week since my complaint was submitted to my local branch, if this is correct and the 8 weeks passes do I still wait for the bank to respond or do I think write to FOS ??, I was thinking that after the 10-07-11 I was going to ring them every week until they have looked at my claim, which is the best route ?

Can't speak for RBS and I'm not sure what is happening with new complaints like this one. Just to give you come context I've been waiting since September with my bank and people have been waiting an awful lot longer than that due to the judicial review. There are backlogs at the banks. I would advice aginst being massively hasty with the FOS unless your complaint isnt upheld as there is a huge backlog at their end as well. Patience is a virtue with these things at the minute I''m afraid.

Sorry if I waffle but I'm fuming

Followed advice to email CEO of Lloyds after getting runaround from BOS. CEO passed my complaint onto Customer Relations Manager on 24th May. Emails to and fro making it 100% clear that my complaint was with BOS and giving BOS reference no. Today I received an email stating they are sorry but they cannot deal with my complaint as it is with BOS. What the....?

What sort of inept people do they employ? I showed my emails to my 12yo nephew who has ADHD and the concentration span of a gnat and he understood!!!!:j

Feel like going to all of their offices in person until somebody does something.

Thanks for letting me get that off my chest feel much better now:rotfl:

I think in some cases mandy the banks are doing it to choke people off, there are some helpful bank staff members out there, I called LTSB today re my refund of ppi for my missold loan ppi, i sent them an email, got a letter today saying they could,nt pay the refund into a building society account, fair enough, so phoned them and dealt with an extremely helpful guy, fair play to them they were ok over that, but some of the banks act like there staff have got no brains don't they?

I believe you can send £1 for a copy of the consumer credit agreement you signed. Sometimes the account number is next to the payment on your current account statement.

To put a claim in for mis sell of ppi you have to have valid reasons to do so. look here for reasons

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#step2
If any/all apply to you then put a claim in.

Is this loan still running, if not when did you pay this up?.

Hi there, in a previous post you made, you said Lloyds/Rbs, is this correct? as RBS are not in the lloyds group. that is just BOS they are 2 different banks.
I believe RBS are part of natwest.

Sorry if i have got this wrong.
Do you have 2 claims in for RBS and BOS?.
If you do this is disgusting for both to treat you like this.
