Ahh I forgot to say...
The tablets were not for increasing blood pressure...

Hi there could advise me on the best way to start a claim for being missold PPI. My dad believes he was missold his PPI due to the fact he is self employed and also was unaware he actually had PPI as he does not believe in this type of insurance. He is with MBNA and has asked me to help him we're not sure how much he could be owed would there be any way to work this out? Any links/ Advise would be greatly appreciated! Will post more info if required0

Hi - my first time ever on a forum but hoping for some advice.
I think I have a claim for PPI as I was led to believe that my insurance had to be taken out with my mortgage provider. I've kept my insurance up with my bank for 8 years but I'm now aware I can shop around and get a cheaper deal.
My problem is I work for local government and my job is potentially now at risk with the cut-backs. If I go ahead with my PPi claim, do I need to cancel my PPi cover?
It might actually now be useful but at the time I was mis-sold the product.
If I don't cancel it then I might get my claim rejected. But if I do, I might not be able to get cover elsewhere.
Anyone any ideas?

Hi and welcome
Some policies will cover for self employment and others do not, but despite that if your dad was unaware it was added, he should go for the reclaim with all the reasons he has.
Complete questionnaire as on step 3 below, send to the main office, and allow 8 weeks for a decision, and keep copies of everything, good luck.

Hi and welcome
I would post this on a separate thread with it being mortgage ppi, however I understand its reclaimable if mis sold, just like loan ppi, but dunstonh or magpiecottage will advise more on this for you.
So please post on the link below which takes you to a separate thread (its still within the reclaiming thread so not to worry), and subject "Mortgage PPI reclaim help".

hi just had an email from egg saying because my online account was opened in july 2004, i am not eligible to claim for the miss sold PPI, yes i opened the account online, and im assuming from reading all other posts on the forum that i had to opt out from the PPI, when i applied online. please could someone tell what my next step would be, i was not aware and neither did i want ppi for a credit limit of 500 quid thanks in advance0

Hi - I was wondering if anyone could help me. Six months ago i noticed on my halifax credit card that i was being charged a monthly 'repayment cover' fee, when i rung Halifax to find out what this charge was, i was told it was a form of PPI. I was adamant that i never needed and did not want this cover. I never asked for it and was never told this charge would apply. Apparently they charge 70p for every £100 of the balance. I have had the card since 2002 and have had a previous balance on there of £8,000. I took out a loan with a lower intrest rate to consolidate and to pay this balance off 3 years ago and currently have roughly £800 on the card.
At the moment the balance stands at £800, i was paying £4.99 a month 'repayment cover' so god knows how much i was paying back when i had a much higher balance on the card. I do not have statements from that time as it was a few years ago. I spoke to Halifax and put my claim forward, on their system the guy could only see statements going back six months. They have taken off the 'repayment cover' charge, I recieved a letter from them six weeks ago saying my claim had been put on hold. I passed the matter on to the FSO who have wrote back to acknowledge my claim form and said they are dealing with a large amount of claims and will get back to me. This was before the banks decided to back down.
Does anyone know what happens now and does anyone think I have a chance in reclaiming this PPI? I would really appreciate any help as i am new to this. Many Thanks. x0 -

Hi and welcome
And yes you can still make a reclaim, just because it opened in 2004 that should not affect anything, and if you've only just became aware of the mis selling - on reclaiming make them aware of this.
If it was a matter of opting out and not in, many would assume this was all part of the account, it is also known that the application will not go through whilst applying online if ppi wasn't accepted, not sure if this would have been EGG or not though, but if you have your reasons then go for it.
When did the account end? (is it a settled account)?
They should still hold details over the last 6 years on this account if you were still paying for it.
If you have the account loan number that helps.
More below on how to make a reclaim, step 3 send completed reclaim questionnaire to head office of whoever sold you the account, keep copies and allow 8 weeks for a decision, good luck.

Hi there
Wishing you luck on your reclaiming.
The FOS have had huge numbers of these complaints, which have also risen over the past few months due to the hold up of the Judicial review, and lots have received the same letters to confirm a delay, but keep with it.
I think you still stand a good chance.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Has anyone got either the address for sending PPI claim or link to alliance & leicester, also these then changed their letters to show MBNA on the front page not santander.
cheers in advance.0
