The only details I have are the loan number - all the other paperwork was shredded years ago once the loan was paid off. Is this enough evidence to send off a letter or would I need the loan dates as well. All I do know is that is ran until roughly March 2007 and the account number.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
Hi and welcome
As long as you have an account number and your reasons then your ready to make the reclaim.

Step 3 - reclaim questionnaire, complete and send to sellers main office or complaints dept, allow 8 weeks and keep copies of everything, good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hi and welcome
Even if you have a DMP you can still make a reclaim on the PPI, although normally any refund is awarded towards the arrears, anything remaining plus interest is or should be awarded to you by cheque.
On any loan/credit card accounts that have been settled/paid off, the refund will come to you.

You still complain to the ones who set up and sold your account, keep copies of everything and allow 8 weeks for a decision, also if your under a DMP, the ppi is also worthless to you, so do mention this as well, as your not able to use it whilst on a payment plan, you can request they cancel as well.
Step 3 of the above link is the reclaiming questionnaire, hope this helps and the best of luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi Guys
I had a car loan through Ge Capital Woodchester from 2002-2006 I do not have any of the related paperwork for this loan. I made the payments by direct debit so called my bank HSBC to ask them if they could provide me with some kind of account number from their historical records. Suffice to say they do not have these details! I have logged on to my Experian Credit Report to see if the info was available to me there, again out of luck. However, it looks as though this company has been taken over by Santander.
To cut a long story short, I want to find out if I paid ppi on this loan (pretty sure I did) and if so claim these monies back!
Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks guys

Hi Steve
If you could try getting hold of just the account number then its easier to make your reclaim.
Loan acc numbers are normally shown on statements of the bank you banked with at the time, and if you bank online this should allow you to go back more than 7 years. If you can do this, the account number is shown next to the loan monthly payments.
I note you said you have been in touch with them, was this directly in the bank or on the phone? I would personally made a visit and speak to the manager of the branch and go through everything with them, they can do this by just using your bank account number.
So give it a go anyway and see what they come back with.

Step 3, reclaim questionnaire, complete and send to the seller of who sold you the account (Head office of complaints dept), keep copies of your paperwork and allow 8 weeks.
Fingers crossed. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi all, just a quick question, sorry if I have missed the answer in all this information - should I digitally sign letters so that the companies can't nick my signature and put it on their paperwork? I'm about to launch two reclaims against Egg and MBNA and do not have all the paperwork I need so am sending an initial letter to both requesting copies of all documentation.
Thanks in advance

Thanks again for the advice Di
I have looked at my previous statements online but they do not have any account numbers next to the standing orders. I then called the bank and although they were suprisingly helpful, they advised they did not have any account number on file to give me. I will take your advice and go to my Branch and see what they can dig up for me!
If they (HSBC) provide me the account number, I assume I will contact Santander regarding this now???0 -
Hi everyone
Never posted but been reading for a while. I am one of those who have used a company to help me get my ppi back, unfortunately I hadn't read any of your comments before I did this otherwise I could have done it myself:embarasse Never mind ayy I have some others I might try on my own. Back to the point. No rejection letter or anything like that received but today I received a letter from First plus stating that it is now 5 years since I took out the loan and on the 12th June the original ppi will expire. Whats that about??? I took out the loan over 25 years!!!! The letter looks like I only took it out over 5 years. Whats this all about. Thanks for your help guys:T0 -

Hi Mrs Smith
That is up to you of course, it seems many are doing it this way, although I have always done mine manually.
Good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hiya and your welcome.
Maybe you will get a better outcome by actually calling into the branch, if they do ask for them you do not have to tell them why, but otherwise state for tax reasons.
And yes then move on to Santander.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hello and welcome
These single policies are frowned upon and many have been successful in making ppi reclaims, they have stopped selling these types of ppi policies now.
For example, some have taken a loan over say 10 or 20 years, but the ppi only covers for 5 years, then normally they offer a percentage of the cashback, but the thing is you would still be paying for the ppi for the remaining term of the loan, yet not protected after 5 years.
Read more details below.......
Is the insurance term too short?
Until banned in May 09, long term loans were often sold with a single premium policy lasting for a maximum of five years, no matter how long the loan is for. If you’ve now checked your policy and found that it does not cover the full term of your loan, but thought that it did, the salesperson should have pointed this out. If not go to the how to reclaim section
