Im new here so please bare with me if i have posted on the wrong thread.
I have claims lodged with the Ombudsman for the past six weeks, with the recent news in the press i was wondering if anyone knows what happens to these claims ? Will they be sent back for re assessment or wait with the ombudsman?
Also is anyone aware of how long the ombudsman is taking to assess claims at the moment?
Many thanks in anticipation.
Emailed today as mine is now with ombudsman. My adjudicator (who originally upheld my decision only for the "Helpful Banking" Nasty to ignore this it and say that it could not make a decision until JR) said that they were now dealing with my claim and that I now had to wait for the final decision.
Hope this helps and Good Luck0 -
Hi, was wondering if someone out there could help me... i am a newbie to this forum setup and am a bit confused on how to use it, so if this is in the wrong place my sincere apologies... I sent the first template to Capital One to reclaim back ppi charges over the past 4 years. I have just received the first letter back saying that I ticked the (interested in ppi) box on my application form copy enclosed in the letter. The letter stated that I must of understood what I was asking for etc.. only when activiating my credit card I had a conversation with a representative from capital one, and explained to them that I am a full time foster carer but when without children to care for I help out as a secretary for a building company, just a couple of hours when they need me. I was told that I needed to have insurance - is this the case.. would I have been covered if I found myself without any children for a few months, as this can sometimes be the case with fostering. I have been told that foster carers are basically self employed, so any insurance would have been a waste of money.. do I have any grounds to ask for money back, or am I wasting my time. Not sure what to do now, as I have trawled through the web looking for anybody with a simliar case as mine... I have read hundreds of posts in this forum and this looks like the only place where someone would likely to know something... thanks for reading this... look forward to hearing from someone soon.:j
Hi and welcome
Some policies differ to the other, but if you no longer have the actual policy for your account they will supply on request.
However, if unemployed and/or working less than either 18 or 16 hours, its possible you would not be eligible for the policy, although I am aware some will cover for being a carer, again the policy will either confirm this one way or the other.
In regards of making a reclaim.....
Below link - reclaim questionnaire step 3, complete and send to the head office or complaints dept of whoever sold you the account, allow 8 weeks and keep copies of what you send and receive.
Good luck with this.;)

can anyone offer any guidance on my situation:
credit card applied for in May/june 2001 with Ulster Bank ( part of RBS), application made by me filling out form and then sent off, i think i must have ticked the box for PPi on the form (am 75% sure on this and i will make the DPA request to make sure) and then a week or so later my credit card arrived.
I was a full time student at the time, not in any employment, no advice was offered to me by the bank on the PPI.
My question is can i claim now or am i outside the 6 year limitation period? if i am outside the 6 year limitation period can i claim for payments made in the last 6 years?
any comments woudl be welcome
Thanks

I remember the sales advisor saying when i took out the mortgage 7yrs ago. "you should take it - you get the first 6 months PPI payments free". Needless to say ive forgotten all about it and never cancelled it. Cant see why I would ever need PPI.. ive worked in local goverment 20yrs and always get paid when im off sick. Hope someone can advise if this is worth pursuing...see everyone talking of PPI on loans & credit cards..never mortgages. Thanks:o
Hi and welcome
I would post this one below on a separate thread, stay within these reclaiming threads and subject it "Mortgage ppi help required!, then Dunstonh is sure to be along to help, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hello and welcome
I would contact them and ask them for an update, to what I am aware of, is as long as your complaint have been logged with them, then its just a matter now of waiting for your case to be passed on to an adjudicator, unfortunately though it may take some time, as they have extreme amounts of complaints, also again since many have gone this direction due to the previous issues.
Stick with it, but no harm in ringing for an update on your case, the best of luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
soulheavensu wrote: »Hi Guys,
I've thought about trying to reclaim my PPI but can't remember if i was mis sold it. I got a loan in 2007 it was a consolidation loan to pay off a loan i already had and to borrow a bit more. It is with the Halifax and was for 9k over 62 Months. Incrediably i still have the original agreement and T&C's. My agreement has a tick box saying "I wish to purchase personal loan payments cover" which i've obvisouly ticked thinking that you have to have this.. The rest of the agreement just states that i'm agreeing to the credit. This was all done by courier so the guy stood there while i read nad signed the documents and gave them back to him on my door step. Would i still be covered to claim. I was naive like many i guess that i had to have PPI as it was what you were always told to do. I've seen the tempplate letters to use just not sure i have a case. The loan i got prior to this was also a loan to pay off a loan.. i only went in for a savings review and walked out with a loan!
I can't believe i ever got a loan and signed the paperwork with a courier on my door step! I would never dream of doing that now!
Any advice on this would be greatly received.
Su
Hi Su
Its very quite possible in my opinion, on the way it was done, and so promptly on your doorstep too, not knowing or had time knowing what you actually signed up for.
Check for more details below, and I note you said you found the template letter, but on this site there is also a reclaim questionnaire now being used, so basically you can either write a letter - where its suggested for a better success rate to use your own words, or use the reclam questionnaire.
Step 3 below.
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#step3
Complete and sent to head office to whoever sold you the account and allow 8 weeks for a decision, its best to try keeping copies for yourself as well, in case you need to refer to it again at some point.
Hope this helps, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hi Paul
Go for it and when you do make them aware you have only just became aware of the mis selling since the JR issues, many on here have still been successful in reclaiming from the 90's etc.
Complete the reclaim questionnaire, on step 3 below, send to their head office or complaints dept, and allow 8 weeks.
Keep copies.

I think you have a good case as you would not have been eligible anyway, being a student at the time and unemployed its worthless to you, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Thanks to everyone for the past posts very help full.
Please point me in the right direction with this PPI claim. I wish to claim against the Halifax but not so good on my reading skills and getting bogged down.
march 2004 took out mortgage.
agust 2004 further advance loan for builders.
January 2008 further advance business loan. all above have PPI added to them and i am self employed.
should i cancel the PPI asap or still pay it while i submit claim.
Do i put this all onto 1 claim or do each one separate.
Dose the policy number cover the loans taken and mortgage details or do i include another account/ref no...for loans.
thanks for your help in advance and good luck everyone.0 -

Hiya, and your very welcome.
Please point me in the right direction with this PPI claim. I wish to claim against the Halifax but not so good on my reading skills and getting bogged down.
We will do our best to help where we can.
march 2004 took out mortgage.
I understand its reclaimable like a normal loan ppi, but think the reclaiming procedures may differ a little but not certain, so with this one please post on a separate new thread - stay within these reclaiming threads and subject "Halifax MPPI help"
I take it you do mean the ppi was sold with the mortgage?
agust 2004 further advance loan for builders.
January 2008 further advance business loan. all above have PPI added to them and i am self employed.
Some will cover for self employed and others do not, so check your policy details, or request they send them to you by post, this is free.
should i cancel the PPI asap or still pay it while i submit claim.
You can cancel at anytime but its suggested to get the complaint resolved first, because they may not reduce the monthly repayments by much until the ppi case have been resolved, but it is your choice of course.
Do i put this all onto 1 claim or do each one separate.
You can do either, but if you decide to want to to this together, make sure you enclose all account numbers that apply.
Dose the policy number cover the loans taken and mortgage details or do i include another account/ref no...for loans.
I would use your policy number, but you can add your mortgage account details as well if you want to, your well covered then.
thanks for your help in advance and good luck everyone.
Again though, if this is mortgage ppi for more advice post on a new thread as suggested and I'm sure someone will be along to give further advice, Dunstonh is the one usually and or MagpieCottage.

I thought i would do what Di3004 keeps advising people to do, so I dragged my partners credit card statements out, now i already am using a 3rd party for a tussle with welcome and thought that i'd give hers ago myself, she wasn't that interested as it wouldn't be that much, ( I say not interested but doesn't think she will get any back, but keep telling her "you don't ask, you don't get")
She has a CC with A&L (now with MBNA) since feb 2003 and has got PPI on there from day 1, have worked it out from the start and totals £1192.31 plus int (=£1975.46) as you can imagine she started listening!!! I'll get to my question in a sec, she's also had late charges on her account going back to Jan 2004, i know about the £12 thingy re June 2006) totaling £710.
So, here's the question, can she apply for all the PPI going back to Feb 2003 or does it have to be in the last 6 years and if so from what exact date?
Can i also apply for the Late charges on the same form, I'm really struggling with all these forms to be honest!!!
Please help, probably DI as i dont think she sleeps as she's always helping people on here!!!0
