When my husband was a student he took out a hefty student from LLoyds TSB. He believes that he was missold the PPI.
I have been telling him to pursue the matter to see if he can get a refund but he thinks that it is too late to apply for a claim.

PLEASE SOMEONE ADVISE ME ABOUT WHAT CAN I DO ON HIS BEHALF?

    A. He does not remember the exact year he took out the insurance- it was either 1997 or 1998.

    B. He does not have any of the paperwork concerning the loan!

    C. The loan itself was repackaged in 2004 or 2005 and so it is some how different from the original loan.

    D. He made the last repayment on the loan in 2010.

I would be very grateful if someone could advise me on what to do now? I have already sent a letter to LLoyds in October 2010 requesting the relevant paperwork for this loan from 1997 (or 1998) but they never got back to me. I am unsure about what to do next.

Thank you in advance for your help

Lloyds have a great way of dealing with its customers, they just ignore you and hope your go away!

im not 100% but if you still bank with them drop into the branch it was all arranged in and obtain the information you need (account numbers, start date etc).

Then download the consumer questionnaire and send it off.

not sure of the time scale issue's as this seems to be a very grey area indeed, with some people being successful others turned down. However i do believe that in those cases the FOS can follow these up. Im sure others will correct me if im wrong.

contact info & questionnaire can be found here:

    Hi,

I had three different credit cards at one stage. The first one was taken out in 2005 which was Barclaycard, then Mint, then Capital One. All three had PPI originally, however, after some time maybe two years on each I decided I didn't need it and they were all taken off by around 2008. Would I still be able to claim for these?

Additionally, I am not sure which ones I applied for over the phone or by internet, although I can rememeber at least one saying over the phone that I would be more successful with my application if I took the insurance out. All I can rememeber is taking out additional insurance that I didnt really want or need.

    Could anyone Help?

    Thanks

    Scott
If you have the account numbers, then that is all you need to make a claim, unless you are not sure if you had ppi, then you would have to ask each company for a copy of your cca these will cost £1 each.
Look here for reasons for mis sell and if any/all apply to you then put a claim in.

    Hello

Can someone explain to me please how come we all can claim PPI if we sign the papers stating that we want it?? I am sure there is almost same procedure at the bank when you sign for cc or loan etc, then they give you another paper and you sign ppi. I wish to get the money back as well just I still can not see how I can claim now telling that I was mis-sold when I put like 3 signatures agreeing to it?
    Thank you
In short, you may not be aware that the ppi was added, you may not have been given the full facts about ppi to make a informed decision about this product, or you were told that you could be declined for the loan if you did not take ppi with it.
If you think you have reasons for mis sell then take a look here

If any/all apply to you, then put a claim in.

    Me again,

Ive completed my questionnaire now. Do i just send this of to the bank or does it need a covering letter. Plus does anyone know which address i will need to write to for the RBS?

    Hi there

There are lots of reasons for being mis sold, despite signing, some have been told they must take the ppi to be accepted for the loan.
And yet now all this have come about, not everyone were even aware they signed up for it, as not all ppi was shown as crossed when on signing.

Yet someone have tried making a claim for example, unemployment/sickness etc, and they have been rejected.

However, the policy will suit some but not everyone, and we do not have to take out the lenders PPI, it should be made optional.

    More details below.

Also below amongst the threads, confessions have been made by some bank staff as well.;)

    Hi there
Good one, and a cover letter is optional, the questionnaire should be sufficient enough.

I have some details below of RBS, good luck.

    Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS)
    Tel - 0161 755 6890 or 0800 015 0319

5th Floor, PPI Complaints, 1 Hardman Boulevard, Manchester, M3 3AQ.

  • thanks very much,

On the bank questionnaire it asks how you applied for the credit cards. I cant be certain which ones I did on the internet and which ones by phone so I might have to put can't remember on the form.

Is this going to affect my claim?

    Many thanks

    Hi there

    How long ago was this?

The final decision if eligible will give details of the financial ombudman service (FOS), and from the final written decision you have 6 months to make that complaint to the FOS.
Did they supply you with a written final letter?

I would maybe give it another go, and if you do get the opportunity (if they still reject your complaint) ask the FOS if they will be able to help.

    Keep at them, good luck.

The Egg rejection letter was a long time ago - maybe over 6 years. With all of this being in the news, it reminded me of how cheated I felt. Maybe I will have a go again, but I am pretty sure I would be wasting my time now.
No reliance should be placed on the above.

    Hi all

I noticed that Egg Credit Card had added payment protection charges to my credit card about 8 years ago - even though I had expressly refused it. I contacted them at the time.

They told me (when I telephoned them) that I had agreed to the protection over the phone (which I hadn't) - So I told them to produce the recording of the call. They said they would contact me again in 6 weeks (they didn't)

So I wrote to Egg asking for proof, they did not reply.

Eventually they wrote to me and told me the recordings could not be produced, and the costs of the PPI would not be refunded.

Because I brought this issue up at the time, but go nowhere, can I now pursue this again? or have I go no chance because of the time span?
I would send it again, look here for reasons for mis sell and if any/all apply to you then put a claim in.
