    Hello,

I took out a credit card at the tender age of 18 in about 2003 with capital one, and would probably have agreed to ppi. has anyone had any success claiming from capital one from around this date? i also had a barclaycard and store cards with topshop and debenhams around this time. is this too far back to claim?

also (lots of questions!) has anyone had success with claiming for a nationwide loan?

very grateful for any advice! ;):money:

    Hi there

I understand there have been complaints against Cap one and success, plus Nationwide etc.

I would not worry on how old they are, because many have still been successful from earlier years, and if you have only just became aware of the mis selling, make them aware of this.

To make a reclaim, complete the reclaiming questionnaire on step 3 below, and keep copies for your records, send to their head offices or complaints dept, and allow 8 weeks for a decision.

I took out a loan with M&S Money in April 2004 and was told I wouldnt be accepted for the loan unless I had the PPI with it. I was given my agreement which gave 2 seperate figures for the loan plus interest and the PPI plus interest. I only have a cpl of repayments left but being strapped for cash and after reading a recent letter from M&S asking me to review my PPI to take account of any changes, I decided to try and cancel the PPI. Doing this i thought would reduce my repayments and would just leave me the loan amount to pay. When I called to do this they said it wouldnt reduce my repayments as I pay more of the repayments at the beginning towards the PPI rather than the loan amount, I may also be entitled to a rebate on the insurance due to cancellation. At this point I realised that this may mean I have been sold single premium product, but not being sure I waited for the letter to tell me what my new repayments and rebate would be. This morning I have received a letter saying saying I have been given a 4p rebate and my total repayments for the next 2 and final repayments have reduced by 2p/month. Have I got a case to reclaim the PPI and also have I made the mistake of cancelling the PPI and now stopping me from making a claim?

    Hi there

I would most certainly give it a go at least, and also complain about the way its been handled.
Your able to cancel at anytime, but many also wait until the case have been resolved.

Get the reclaim questionnaire completed and send to their head office, allow 8 weeks, keep a copy for yourself.

Once cancelled, your unable to make a claim for sickness/unemployment etc, but there are stand alone options which are generally cheaper than the lenders.

After successfully making two claims on Lloyds bank loans I am now on the first steps to making two claims for ppi on two Lloyds bank credit cards. Initially my bank account was quite healthy with one bank loan. I then went to Lloyds to ask to increase the existing loan. I was told I couldn,t do that and was persuaded to take a second loan so I ended up with two loans and two lots of ppi. This was ok at first but then got a little more difficult. I asked to consolidate the two loans and adjust the payment but surprise surprise, no I couldnt do that. Meanwhile I was encouraged to take a credit card which I did (I know-stupid!) At a financial review I was pressured to take a second card which was American express and the credit limit was spread between the two. So yet again I ended up paying two lots of ppi. Now, other MSE,ers out there are probably saying silly woman. Why do these things and to an extent they are probably right. However has anybody out there had the same experience with Lloyds or any other bank. They call you in for a financial review which they say is to see if they can save you some money which they occasioally do but this saving is lost because what they mean is lets see what else we can persuade you to take on so each time I've ended up either taking an increase on a loan or being pressurized into having a credit card. They are very persuasive and its very tempting when they throw money at you. But funnily enough when you start having problems they never ask you to come in and try and save you any money. You're in debt up to your eyeballs and they couldn't care less about any financial reviews. Once my daughter was asked to come in for one and she said no. They asked why and said they could help her out with a loan. She said if they had bothered to look they would find she had paid her loan off. The woman she saw said, quite rudely, "how did you pay that off" and my daughter told her it was none of her business and left. Wish I had taken that attitude now as I wouldn't be in this mess. After this long story I wondered if anybody has had any success with ppi reclaim on credit cards that are in arrears with payments and over their limit. I am hoping to get the ppi refunded which could wipe out or greatly reduce the debt on these. Thanks, sorry about the ramble lol

    Hi there

    And oh yes..........
This was done often and it was always a case of making a saving of taking out another loan.
At one point they would not extend the overdraft date, I didn't want it risen but asked for an extension, saying that the actual date for the review of the overdraft was not for another 6 months, but we received a letter to say it had to end earlier etc etc, so please make an appointment with the bank!
On doing so that was when they said a loan would be more appropriate and cheaper!

And back in 2001 I was sold a credit card, the paperwork was thrown in front of me to sign, and it was only the last few years when checking through paperwork and learning of ppi mis selling - mine was a printed tick. I was then just receiving my children's benefits. I was a laid back person, and not financially minded, but have learnt over the years lol.

When I first complained to lloyds they did actually reject my complaint in regards of the credit card, they said, even if i was not covered for unemployment/sickness - i would still benefit from life cover and job solutions. I was not putting up with that.
So it eventually was resolved by the FOS.

However, last year I successfully reclaim on 4 Lloyds loans ppi directly with them, and I do have 2 more i came across that are being dealt with right now.

    http://www.lloydstsb.com/payment_protection_insurance_complaints.asp

There are details on how to make a reclaim directly on Lloyds link.
Address of where to send and so on. Keep at them and good luck.;)

    Hello

Sorry I am another person asking about a possible PPI claim.

My father was sold PPI on his mortgage by Halifax about 10-15 years ago. Now he was self employed (sub post master) the whole time but this was never enquired about. When my father lost his job, he never claimed but did inform Halifax who did not pay out but he kept paying the premium for it (in case of death would pay out). He missed one payment as on holiday in 2002 (not enough money in account that month) and they cancelled the policy because of this. My father passed away a couple of years ago, is it worth trying to claim on his behalf? As he paid a lot of premium for no reason it seems….

Thanks for any answers in advance!

    Hello there

This is one for Dunstonh and or MagpieCottage to help with.

So stay within these reclaiming threads, but start your very own thread, this will not be missed then by the above who will be along at some point to help. Give it a subject line "Mortgage PPI help".
I'm sure they will give the best advice on this one for you.

    All the best on this.;)

    Hi all

I noticed that Egg Credit Card had added payment protection charges to my credit card about 8 years ago - even though I had expressly refused it. I contacted them at the time.

They told me (when I telephoned them) that I had agreed to the protection over the phone (which I hadn't) - So I told them to produce the recording of the call. They said they would contact me again in 6 weeks (they didn't)

So I wrote to Egg asking for proof, they did not reply.

Eventually they wrote to me and told me the recordings could not be produced, and the costs of the PPI would not be refunded.

Because I brought this issue up at the time, but go nowhere, can I now pursue this again? or have I go no chance because of the time span?
No reliance should be placed on the above.

    Hi there

    How long ago was this?

The final decision if eligible will give details of the financial ombudman service (FOS), and from the final written decision you have 6 months to make that complaint to the FOS.
Did they supply you with a written final letter?

I would maybe give it another go, and if you do get the opportunity (if they still reject your complaint) ask the FOS if they will be able to help.

    Keep at them, good luck.
