Hi
I have taken out credit / loans for the following:
Nationwide credit card
Tesco credit card
Natwest credit card
MBNA credit card
M & S credit card
Natwest personal loan of £30K
Store cards & catalogues totalling £5K
Excluding my mortgage I have about £50K worth of debt. All of it was taken out between 1998 to date and almost all have PPI. Plus a car loan with Black Horse Finance which I have finally paid off. I also have motor insurance with Swinton and Home insurance with Morethan.
I have some of the paperwork but not all. A few years ago I got into a bind and sought the help of CCCS who have put me on a debt management scheme to pay everyone back. Should I investigate claiming these PPI's? Will my chances be reduced because I am on the CCCS scheme? I would hate to think that there's money I could be reclaiming and didn't. I know 100% I would have a claim against Black Horse but I finished my loan with them about 5 years ago so would it be too late? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there
If you was on DLA and IB at the time of being sold this, the policy is totally worthless to you.
I would for those reasons try making a reclaim, but you may need to be firm and keep at them, and for those reasons in my opinion you do have a good case.
On Lloyds TSB website there are details on there also on how to make a reclaim, with the reclaim questionnaire and the address to send to, make sure you keep copy for yourself as well, if you do not have the facilities to download and print, you can contact them and ask them to send you one in the post, if they ask why, tell them you will not discuss matters on the phone and it will all be dealt with by using the procedures of the questionnaire, good luck.

Hi there
Your still able to make a reclaim, even if on DMP, but please be aware that any award will possibly be refunded towards the debt owed, anything remaining and interest should be awarded directly to you.
No matter how old they are, still give it a go, many on here have still been successful with earlier reclaims.
To do this follow the steps below to the questionnaire step 3, complete and send to the ones who sold you the account/head office or complaints dept, and allow 8 weeks for a decision.
Keep copies of everything as well.
I would also like to point out, if your still paying for the PPI, they are now worthless to you whilst on DMP, as your not able to use them anyway, so ask them to cancel for this reason and if it will reduce the balance on the debts.

gadgets.loco wrote: »Hi - I called Barclays, it's secured lending arm (they anwer the phone as UK Secured Lending), this morning to get an update on a claim I filed a few months back. They have confirmed what was announced yesterday but also said that they are waiting for the courts to provide the guidelines for processing the claims before they can process my claim. Is there still a pending action from the courts just as they claim?
Barclays, as of yesterday are not appealing the court ruling.
So hopefully you should hear something soon, just sit and wait.
If your loan is still running, make sure they take the total ppi off your loan and reduce your monthly payment by the ppi amount.0 -

I have a question.. if you claim against being mis-sold a PPI for a credit card and still have an outstanding credit balance.. surely the
bank/credit card provider would/could a) expect you to pay any compensation against the credit debt or b) ask for complete settlement of the credit debt of anything left over?
So some of us IMHO could be in a catch 22 situation... if you apply to claim a mis-sold PPI then the provider could ask for full repayment of the loan/credit debt? Am I thinking right or is there something that prevents them doing this?
Thanks
You then claim mis sell and "win" the money back and the loan/cc company take this money (that you should not have paid) and take it off the balance instead.
I dont think this is right unless you have arrears on the product, then i think they should use the money to clear the arrears.0 -
Hello
Can someone explain to me please how come we all can claim PPI if we sign the papers stating that we want it?? I am sure there is almost same procedure at the bank when you sign for cc or loan etc, then they give you another paper and you sign ppi. I wish to get the money back as well just I still can not see how I can claim now telling that I was mis-sold when I put like 3 signatures agreeing to it?
Thank you0 -
Hi,
I had three different credit cards at one stage. The first one was taken out in 2005 which was Barclaycard, then Mint, then Capital One. All three had PPI originally, however, after some time maybe two years on each I decided I didn't need it and they were all taken off by around 2008. Would I still be able to claim for these?
Additionally, I am not sure which ones I applied for over the phone or by internet, although I can rememeber at least one saying over the phone that I would be more successful with my application if I took the insurance out. All I can rememeber is taking out additional insurance that I didnt really want or need.
Could anyone Help?
Thanks
