    Thanks robbedofmymoney

If he is successful what is likely to happen, will they send a cheque or would they take the repayment off his outstanding loan?

At the start of loan 2 it was written in that if he doesn't pay it off early then they will give him back £1000 as a bonus.
We did go into the bank to discuss having PPI removed but they said he would then lose out on that bonus as they would have to re-write the loan

if your friend is not in arrears and has not missed any payments they are obliged to refund all of the money direct to him/her.

not sure about the £1000 bonus, but i would still be cheeky and ask
I'm proud to say that the banks no longer take money from me after becoming debt free

Hi, was wondering if someone out there could help me... i am a newbie to this forum setup and am a bit confused on how to use it, so if this is in the wrong place my sincere apologies... I sent the first template to Capital One to reclaim back ppi charges over the past 4 years. I have just received the first letter back saying that I ticked the (interested in ppi) box on my application form copy enclosed in the letter. The letter stated that I must of understood what I was asking for etc.. only when activiating my credit card I had a conversation with a representative from capital one, and explained to them that I am a full time foster carer but when without children to care for I help out as a secretary for a building company, just a couple of hours when they need me. I was told that I needed to have insurance - is this the case.. would I have been covered if I found myself without any children for a few months, as this can sometimes be the case with fostering. I have been told that foster carers are basically self employed, so any insurance would have been a waste of money.. do I have any grounds to ask for money back, or am I wasting my time. Not sure what to do now, as I have trawled through the web looking for anybody with a simliar case as mine... I have read hundreds of posts in this forum and this looks like the only place where someone would likely to know something... thanks for reading this... look forward to hearing from someone soon.:j
  • Hi..hope someone can help with this. With all the news abou PPI reclaims, thought i better check all my paperwork. Discovered that i pay PPI with my monthly mortgage payment. I remember the sales advisor saying when i took out the mortgage 7yrs ago. "you should take it - you get the first 6 months PPI payments free". Needless to say ive forgotten all about it and never cancelled it. Cant see why I would ever need PPI.. ive worked in local goverment 20yrs and always get paid when im off sick. Hope someone can advise if this is worth pursuing...see everyone talking of PPI on loans & credit cards..never mortgages. Thanks:o

Im new here so please bare with me if i have posted on the wrong thread.

I have claims lodged with the Ombudsman for the past six weeks, with the recent news in the press i was wondering if anyone knows what happens to these claims ? Will they be sent back for re assessment or wait with the ombudsman?

Also is anyone aware of how long the ombudsman is taking to assess claims at the moment?

    Many thanks in anticipation.

    Hi Guys,

I've thought about trying to reclaim my PPI but can't remember if i was mis sold it. I got a loan in 2007 it was a consolidation loan to pay off a loan i already had and to borrow a bit more. It is with the Halifax and was for 9k over 62 Months. Incrediably i still have the original agreement and T&C's. My agreement has a tick box saying "I wish to purchase personal loan payments cover" which i've obvisouly ticked thinking that you have to have this.. The rest of the agreement just states that i'm agreeing to the credit. This was all done by courier so the guy stood there while i read nad signed the documents and gave them back to him on my door step. Would i still be covered to claim. I was naive like many i guess that i had to have PPI as it was what you were always told to do. I've seen the tempplate letters to use just not sure i have a case. The loan i got prior to this was also a loan to pay off a loan.. i only went in for a savings review and walked out with a loan!

I can't believe i ever got a loan and signed the paperwork with a courier on my door step! I would never dream of doing that now!

Any advice on this would be greatly received.

    Su

I think you may be right here, as when you do not look after children then you lose that money and only do a couple of hours elsewhere when you do not have the children.
To have claimed on the ppi unemployment you would have had to sign on and be looking for work for this to kick in.
If i were you i would put a complaint in, put what you have put here and, also look for other reasons you may have been mis sold.

You will get a better response if you post this here

Not too sure on this one,as they could say you ticked the box, the courier is way off base, a friend of mine did a loan with the halifax like this and the courier made her feel uncomfortable about reading the whole of the paperwork, so she just signed. (she died 7 years ago so had the life insurance on this).
Hopefully someone who has won with the halifax this way will post more info for you.

I read on MSE that you could argue that you only had a box to tick rather then one for yes and one for no.. When i did it the courier was chatting away to me while i was trying to read stuff.. It wasn't a great experience.. would never do it again..

    Sorry about your friend
