Give FOS a ring and see what they have to say.
I hope this is not another stunt by the banks to get out of paying, a lot on here have won with claims from the 90s and had the refund.
thanxs for ur reply just gave them a ring he was quite surprised with the letter and said 6 years quoted was nothing to be worried about if they were regulated which rbs was. told me to get it straight into post today and they would take it from there.

i also phoned rbs who said this was the banks policy if it was more than 6 years old.i have another complaint with them sent at same time feb this one finished off in 2005 rbs said letter had been sent out yesterday on desicion of that one wonder what that one says probably the same!!

Could be the new trend from the banks as others too have reported this:(
Would not put it past them, i think they will try every trick in the book now, as long as FOS and FSCS see they have looked into a claim then i think that would be that.

You could put a different complaint and then you know it is in if they do not contact you about this.

I had an egg card and just got off the phone to them, they confirmed I did have ppi on it. I cannot recall taking this. The woman on the phone said to me that I ticked the box apparently when applied online.

I seriously do not believe I would have ticked it as I was against adding on extra charges to my cards etc at the time. How can I prove that I wouldn't have ticked this box. It's hard to prove isn't it

Anyone had any success with online apps?

    Hiya

I think there is something about this on Martin's thread, where people didn't realise ppi was added to the account online, because its a matter of opting out and no in.;) Therefore its easily missed on applying where its assumed its all part of the account as well.
    Maybe that will help. x

You can still put a claim in, but they make take any "win" off arrears that you owe.
  • I have an old Northern Rock loan that included PPI which I think was mis sold. The only details I have are the loan number - all the other paperwork was shredded years ago once the loan was paid off. Is this enough evidence to send off a letter or would I need the loan dates as well. All I do know is that is ran until roughly March 2007 and the account number.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!
