hi all, I have been an avid fan of this site for several years and thx to Martin have reclaimed quite a bit of money - unfrtunately not enough to stop me going bankrupt in Jan 2009, discharged 6 months later in July 2009.
My question is - I have recently been informed that I was mis-sold PPI on a loan from Welcome Finance included in the bankruptcy, and have compensation of £2900, but the letter says that this money will be taken off what I owed on the loan included in the bankruptcy. Is this correct?
The FSCS are dealing with Welcome mis sell ppi now, and i am afraid they are taking the refunds of the loans.
Not 100% on this, but as this loan was included in your bankruptcy then you will not get the refund anyway
.If i am wrong then i am sure someone will put me straight!!.

    Hello
first off i appoligise now if im posting this in wrong place

have a cc with tesco and have had so for many years its a joint c.c
husband is main card holder and i'm secondary card holder

in the past we have asked to cancel this insurance to be told that we couldnt because thats the terms of the cc u have to have insurance incase of defalt payments

well this morning i rang them again and im guessing theve been inundated with calls like mine cos i was told, i could cancel the insurance there and then and i think they was hoping id say yes ok cancel it and i;ll go away

BUT also whist on the phone i discovered the insurance is for my husband alone even tho im secondary card holder ??

now my questions are is A) should i cancel right now and B) would this affect any action i would like to take to get back the years of paying insurance

also tesco bank is po box number and when i asked for an address to send any correspondence too the lady on phone her attitude changed and said she couldnt give any addresses to non primary card holders ?

so does anyone have an address rather then a po box number

any advice would be greatfully recieved please

    thanks

    Jen.
Hi there, get your hubby to phone and cancel the ppi, this will not affect any claim you put in and will save you money.
They will tell him the address to send a complaint to.
Look here for reasons for mis sell and if any/all apply to you get a claim in.

Probably not! your claims i assume will have been looked at, so i would think they will start to go through claims now and hopefully you will hear one way or the other soon.
  • Hi Sorry if this has already been dealt with but this is my first time

I took a business loan out 6 years ago and was told that I had to take a life assurance policy out with critcal illness cover or I would not get the loan, The loan was assigned to the lender,The repayments are £116.00 per month and now that business is really bad I am finding it a struggle to cover it, Does this come under the PPI mis-selling and as the bank also wanted and got a second charge on my house as security.

The loan was for £88.000 and the life assurance will cost me over £22.000

    Thanks in anticipation

Hi, new to all this, but am hoping someone may be able to help answer this question. Can you make a PPI Mis-selling claim on Mortgages or is it limited to Loans and Credit Cards.
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hello,

I wonder if anyone can help - I was missold PPI for a loan I took out with HSBC the person I dealt with made it clear I had to take out their insurance to secure the loan. I've contacted HSBC last year and then took it to the Ombudsman. Both found against me. Can I reopen the case on the back of this last ruling?

    Many thanks,

    P
Hi there, look here for reasons for mis sell
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#step2
What other reasons for mis sell did you give originally? as the reason you gave above would not quite do it.
If you have other reasons for mis sell you could try to put another reclaim and see what happens this time.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Thank you so much Dizzy Di :)
I found couple grounds, but the best one for me is /It's a common complaint that consumers are told they must buy a policy from the same provider as the loan in order to be accepted for the product. This is mis-selling./ I even have the forms signed and till today even I didn't know that you can buy Insurance elsewhere. So that means I have a case? I also bought a car and paid it off now. Can I claim from them as well?

Thank you again for any thoughts

    Hiya

That is cool, and yes your able to make a claim from the car dealer/head office or complaints as well, it makes no difference is settled or still active.

    Good luck.
