From the BBC Business news website...
Think it's going to be that simple and all our claims on hold are going to be released?
Well that was interesting. I dropped a comment to the BBC regarding my situation and their article and they've just asked me if I'd do a television interview to be aired on the 13:00 news...!0 -
My partner and I took out a business loan to buy a small business in 2002 and Business Loan Repayment Insurance at a cost of £4440 which was added to the loan.
I have never been happy about signing up but to be fair they did say it was not compulsary, although they did push the benefits quite hard offering several scenarious as illustrations.
At the time we were partners in another business which was run by staff and could support us if the new business struggled.
I have always felt that the unemployment benefit was pointless for this reason alone.
Another smaller point is that if we repaid the loan at any time the insurance would cease which seems unfair given the size of premium.
The loan will be paid off in another year.
Do we have a case?
Thanks for looking.0 -

Hi and welcome
Its good to hear you were not pressurised as such or being told it wasn't compulsory, but if you think it was worthless to you in anyway and you were deprived of your money due to the fact of the unemployment etc, there is no harm in giving it a go on the reclaiming.
To do this, complete the FOS reclaim questionnaire as on stage one of reclaiming below.
Send to the head office or the complaints dept if they have one, and keep copies as well in case you need to go back to it again at some point.
They have 8 weeks normally to send a decision, but should keep you informed of the progress of your complaint up to that time, good luck.

If you don't try you will never know, and my feeling is it will be looked into, expecially after all this JR drama.:D;)
Oh and they are asking for customers to come forward xThe one and only "Dizzy Di"0
