Hi - thanks to everyone on this board, I have started the process of reclaiming back my PPI payments with Barclays where I have a secured loan. I sent my letter on Feb 7, 2011 and Barclays has responded on Feb 10 stating that they will look at my complaint and will get back to me no later than March 8.

I got a letter dated on March 4 notifying me that in order to help them resolve the matter they need to fully complete their investigation . They also noted that they remain committed to resolve my complaint as quickly as they can and will contact me again by April 4.

    Still early days but... :D

I will wait for their next correspondence before deciding what action I will take.

    Regards

Dear Gadgets.loco, watch Barclays like a hawk, I'm claiming on behalf of my Mother and have had to jump through so many hoops including a 3rd party Barclays mandate just to get them to send me correspondence, which they haven't done yet. Despite the FSA saying they should progress cases, and have been warned they are still stalling for the verdict!!

They certainly are not committed, to resolve anything fast! Good luck

    Peace:)

    Hi,

I have recently received information from solicitors stating that I am unable to claim any PPI from X company due to them not being regulated at the time of my first payment of the PPI Policy. After further investigation and help from the FOS we found out the the PPI was underwritten by a completely different company that sold me the original PPI and that I could put a claim in against them.

I have had most of the literature back from the FOS but there are a few answers to questions that need filling in.

E.G. Tell us about your complaint - including what hapened when you took out the payment protection insurance.
Where the sale took place and who you spoke to.
The information you were given before you took out this insurance.
How the cost, benefits and terms of the insurance were explained to you.
The questions you were asked before taking out this insurance.
Why you decided to take out this insurance.
Any changes to you health since you took out the insurance.

Please could anyone let me know if there are any standard answers to the above questions and where can I get this information from.

With kind Regards and a hopefull heart.

    Cheers.

    Hi and welcome

I would answer them to the best of your knowledge.

Such as the business you assumed sold you the insurance.

If the sale taken place on the phone, or a home visit, internet or the bank itself.

If you remember the PPI being explained to you "or not", if so what was explained from what you can recall.

If any questions were asked or not.

If you decided you wanted the insurance when the loan was sold to you, or if you were not given the option and it was not discussed then tell them that.

So your health in general as it is now, if its not changed then confirm your health is no different to the time when you taken out the policy etc.

Because these are personal indivual questions, everyones will be different, so write to the best of your knowledge.

    Good luck.

    Hi Dizi Di,

I wanted to know whether I should say that the company explained that without having PPI I would not qualify for the loan. Should I say this in the form to fill in.

    Cheers for you reply.

    Regards.

    Hiya

And yes do mention that as well, because they should not have made the PPI as part of the loan and it should have been made optional, good luck. x;)

  • Hi. I'm new to the site and am about to start trying to reclaim PPI on my credit card. I've downloaded the appropriate letter templates but was wondering about the account number(s)
Obviously my card number is my account number, but presumably the account number is changed each time a new card is issued (along with revised terms and conditions??). My concern is that I have had my card(s) for many years so they have been replaced several times. Will my claim on my "current" account number take these previous accounts into it's scope or will I have to try to reclaim seperately for the previous card issues?
If this is the case how can I find the preceding account numbers?
Thanks in advance for any forthcoming advice

Hi and welcome to PPI reclaiming.

I personally deal with mine separately.

If the accounts are still running then they will be able to provide you with a copy of the agreements, for a £1 each postal order or cheque payment.
Write a simple letter, giving them as many details as possible, even the number on the card will be a help, I recall the number on the credit card would be the account number anyway.
Enclose £1 per each one and ask them to provide you with the copy of the agreements by 12 days.

Hope this helps and good luck on your reclaiming.

Thanks for your reply but I think I should have made my question clearer.
Taking my oldest card (NatWest mastercard) I have been using this since around 1995, obviously I have had many issues of this card. The question then should be if I claim on the current issue of the card will they take into account any of the previous issues, where the account number would have presumably been different? (I'm assuming here that the account number changes each time a replacement card is issued)
I guess that given that they are only required to keep records for 6 years they would only need to look at 3 or 4 previous issues anyway.
    Thanks again

We do not advocate lying on this site so that someone can make a claim. We always tell posters to look for reasons for mis sell that may apply to them.

and i would like you to quote the posts where we have told posters to lie to make a claim.

Di you cannot say this :eek::eek: you are encouraging the poster to lie about a claim:D
Despite the fact you are not and never would,
    the last paragraph confirms this.
