Dear All, I need a little advice.
Despite writing 2 recorded delivery letters to the Halifax requesting a copy of a loan agreement taken out in 2000, the company that advertises that they offer 'a little extra help' :rotfl:has failed to respond. I sent the first letter back in October. What are your suggestions for my next action?!
Many thanks0 -

Hi Wendy
They normally have 12 days to send this to you on request, did you enclose £1 cheque or postal order that is normally required for these requests?
If you had done this then contact them again.
Is this account still active?
If still active they should I believe still have copies of the agreement, but they should confirm otherwise.
However, if you have a mis sold reason and your account number you can still continue to make a reclaim for now, sometimes when you do this they do tend to send a copy of the loan agreement back with a letter, this way is then free.
All you do is complete the reclaiming questionnaire that replaced the template letter on this site, this is below on the link as stage one of reclaiming;

Send to the head office of Halifax, and keep copies of all you send and receive, this is just in case you need to go back to this again at some point.
They normally have 8 weeks to give a decision, but may ask for more time.
Good luck and please let us know how you get on, thanks.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Hi, I have received a letter from Egg regarding the repayment of protection insurance which was added to my credit card without my knowledge £300. They have confirmed that my complaint has been upheld! Does this mean that they are going to pay me back? They go on to say that 'However, you may be aware that on 8 October 2010 the British Bankers' Association commenced a judicial review of complaints handling rules proposed by the FSA................... As a consequence, there is uncertainty as to the rules applicable to how we should calculate any refund in relation to your complaint.......as soon as the outcome of the judicial review process is final, we shall calculate the refund owed to you. Should I be celebrating or not?0

Hi all, I'm new to this so apologies if I seem a bit dim with my questions.
Firstly, I took a mortgage out with lloyds tsb in 2005 and was told that I needed to take out an insurance policy with them to cover the loan in the event that either myself or my, then, partner died. Then in 2008 we added another sum to the mortgage to get some jobs done on the house. Again, I was told that I needed to take out this insurance with them to cover the extra borrowing as well.
My question is this, am I now able to try to reclaim the costs of these policies back as I wasn't told that I could have got them elsewhere and that I was given the impression that if I didn't take them out that the mortgage would be refused?0 -
I wrote, mid October 2010, to EGG (RBS) and requested a copy of my original credit card application as I believed I’d been miss sold the PPI, I believe it was a condition of ne having the card, this was about 4-5 years ago.
Egg replied saying I had signed out to it and wasn’t miss sold anything. Again I asked for a copy of our agreement, which they’ve still not sent.
Egg replied saying in accordance with the FSA rules they have 8 weeks in which to reply and they would use this time to investigate my claim and come back to me – they also advised that they would stop the PPI payment that month, which they did. There 8 weeks was up 24th Dec 2010, I wrote to them again on 6th Jan 2011 advising them their 8 weeks was up and enquired how the investigation was going.
Egg replied on the 7th Jan 2010 advising me that they hadn’t reached a decision and would require more time before them could come to a decision. They advised me that I could, if I so wish, refer the matter to the Insurance Ombudsman and enclosed a booklet. (until now all correspondence had been email, via my online Egg account)
The following day I received a letter the letter made reference to a case between the Banks and the Insurance Ombudsman (FSA) that took place back in March 2010, they went on to say the outcome of that case was undefined as to how compensation should be calculated and therefore EGG are not settling any claims until it is clear as to how compensation is calculated, once clear they will be in touch – again they advised me that I could, if I so wish, refer the matter to the Insurance Ombudsman and enclosed the same booklet. They also said I could stop paying the monthly IPP if I wanted too.
I have two questions:-
1- Can anyone point me to where I can find the details of this case because while they make reference to it they fail to make a traceable reference
2- Should I sit tight and wait for the matter of compensation calculation to be resolved or should I go ahead and register my issue with the IO

Thanks everso. The loan is active until Feb / March. It's my boyfriends issue & he has no idea whether he has PPI or not - highly suggestive of a missold PPI to me (Men:mad:...some men:D!) He has struggled hugely to pay this huge loan off & has paid an enormous amount of interest & charges along the way.
Will give it a go & keep you posted.
