    Hi all,
Just been doing some online banking and was looking at my latest statement and there was a payment for £278 for ppi refund apparently. Nothing to say which of my 2 loans it was for and is no way enough money. Why dont Lloyds tell you what they are doing? This means I'll have to ring them and try and find someone who knows what they are talking about, (I wont hold my breath) If its for the smaller of my two loans it should be more than that as the loan was for over £5000. They never send any paperwork either to tell you how they have worked out your refund. Wish me luck in trying to find out what this is all about lol!

    Hi Patricia

I would write or email them to ask them to send you a written breakdown, tell them you would like to see how they worked this out and how they came to that amount that was paid into your account.
Hopefully they should send this on request, good luck and keep at them, if they have made any errors on the amount/calculations, they will have to forward you with a further refund payment, as they did with one of mine a few months back.;)

  • Hi all, I took out a loan with HSBC in 2007, i didnt want a protection policy but they said i wouldnt be accepted for the loan if i didnt so i ended up with a personal loan and a 'personal loan protection plan loan' so my personal loan was for £8500 plus £2630.38 interest and the payment plan loan was charged at £1960 plus £ 606.67 interest. In total the whole agreement was £13697.05. The original loan term was for 62 weeks. I was never happy about paying the protection policy so i asked to cancel it but they said i couldnt cancel that type of protection plan, i then decided to get another loan without the protection and pay the first loan off early. Ive only just realised by looking through my paperwork that i never paid any less back by paying it off early(in 2009), in total i still paid the full £13697.05. Needless to say i am about to try and get the protection policy money back. The branch i made the loan with is now closed down, should i send it to my nearest branch or head office?

Hi there, yes send it to your local branch and put fao manager, i take it you have account number, and i assume you took the loan over 62months, and not 62 weeks?.

  • Adjudictor rang today and they are looking at my case over next couple of weeks. I asked about my second complaint against Natwest, which they have currently frozen (right on 8 week deadline), and adjudicator said they would get back to me later in week regarding sending complaint to them or waiting for high court verdict. Fingers Crossed on both!

  • :(Hi all, im new to this and am maybe a bit thick when it comes to all this, however, im really trying to get this reclaiming malarky

I hold a Virgin credit card which i used for 0% balance transfer in oct 08. my initial offer letter states that if you have chosen to take out PPI please read and reatin this letter, which doesnt really say much. i cant recall taking the insurance but as its been on my statements since start i must have, any suggestions of what i should do, or maybe i should have this???

Also I have a loan from First trust bank since 07 i have my paperwork but i not signed it i remember that they said if i didnt take out the insurance i could not get the loan so obviously needing the cash i would have signed anything to get it, do i have a leg to stand on with this????

    any suggestions would be great

    thx

    Hello there

And do not worry, your not thick and its new to us all at some point lol.:D;)

Right in regards of the credit card, if you believe it was mis sold, then try to reclaim.
I used to think the insurance was all part of the card etc, and many did to what I know of with not being told any different, and if its also worthless to you now, then maybe you don't require it.

It is good to have protection in case the worse was to happen, but if your protected elsewhere that is fine.

And the other one - First Trust Bank, there seems to be a case, if they told you that you had to take this out as its all part of being accepted for a loan, that is not correct, its optional and you should have had a choice.

To make a reclaim, basically you complete the reclaiming questionnaires, this replaced the template letter on this site and was issued by the financial ombudsman service for this matter, not to confuse with the FOS complaints form though.

Complete and send to whoever set up your policy from the start, if they have a head office or a complaints office then send to them.
Keep copies of all you send and receive in case you need to refer to this again at some point.

They have 8 weeks to give a decision, but may ask for more time, keep at them though.

    The reclaiming fos questionnaire you will find on stage one of reclaiming on martin's link here;
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#reclaim

Hope this helps, good luck and please keep us posted, cheers.;)
