  • I also know that a lot of you have been waiting for a long time.

Do you think that it fair to review every month?
SPC £500 well will try very hard.

    GC £6.16/£150

Bathgatebuyer did you tell them that you put this complaint in in 2008?
If not I would ring again on Monday and point this out. The FOS do make mistakes.

I will do - has anyone ever heard from them when they've put in a hardship claim? Do they ever write back an say 'sorry your money / life / medical / relationship issues aren't deemed to place you in hardship?'
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

Absolutely. In fairness to the FOS, I always get a monthly letter, albeit usually saying, "Sorry we haven't been able to do anything as yet".

  • No I meant HSBC will contact me each and go over all the details IE.

  • Sorry - I'm sounding thick here (I usually do!) - is IE independent expert?

If the bank are reviewing your case monthly then it is probably a good thing as Sainsburys standard response has been 'we're not talking to you directly anymore...........everything is being done through the Ombudsman' They've been the worst communication-wise. Egg actually being one of the best as they responded to all my correspondence within a fortnight or so.

  • IE is income and expenditure it seems excessive to em as others had greater refunds,it seems odd to refund £650. When the claim is for £4500.
I have mortgage arrears council tax default ,household bills outstanding. They have acknowledged that I am in difficultly.
SPC £500 well will try very hard.

  • Obviously trying to capitalise on your need for money to settle any arrears therefore offering the lower settlement to try and avoid a bigger loss to them.

I would like advice from anyone here pls , have had a claim in with HFC Bank for a personal loan and 2 homeowner loans - all paid off now. HFC have paid out on the personal loan £986 yipee! stating that they were unable to ascertain that PPI was appropriate so have paid all plus 8%. They are denying wrong doing on both Homeowner loans so have written stating that I will be forwarding complaint to FOS in relation to Homeowner loans but will accept the personal loan refund however this is not in final settlement of the complaint. Does this appear to be ok or should I refer the whole complaint to FOS

That seems fine, ou have made it clear you are accepting only the amount on one loan. And so now you only have to complain about the two homeowner loans to the FOS. Would mention in your FOS complaint that HFC paid out for the personal loan.

Hi Pinknico, thanks for that and will advise FOS in my letter to them. Shall I send FOS letter now or wait 14 days for HFC to reply - HFC have already said in their letter to me that this is their final response - thanks for your help xxx
