  • Hi, I'm looking for some advice! I was super happy to get a letter from Egg refunding me just over £2,500 for PPI and interest but they applied it to my card. As I having some financial difficulties at the moment (aren't we all!) I wanted this in real money so tried to do a balance transfer online (which it said was successful). When this didn't happen I contacted Egg and apparently they changed my account to repayment only last year so I can't access the funds. This is very frustrating and any advice would be appreciated!

    Thanks x

    Hi there

First of all well done on this success  :T .

Hopefully someone will post up with some advice here for you in this case, I have not gone through this actual situation myself before but I am sure someone have. (in regards to balance transfer).

Have they told wrote to them about this?

You could contact the Financial ombudsman service here to see what they say, not sure what they would say but if its another complaint they may suggest to complain on this issue to them, good luck.;)

  • Hi all - I decided to phone the FOS today to try and find out what is happening with my Sainsburys PPI claim. Apparently it's not likely to be resolved soon. They are waiting for it to be passed to an Adjudicator to consider the PPI bit and that is likely to take 'months.........but probably before the end of the year'. EH?!!!!

"As it's an 09 case..................we're still dealing with 08 cases..............bit of a backlog.............taking on more people so getting through them quicker............"

My case was submitted in May 08 so I don't know where their '09 case' thing came from. I'm really at a loss with the FOS. I'd really just love my money back. No more, no less. Just what Sainsburys have taken from me over the years for a useless policy I would never have been able to claim for.

What really hit it home is that I missed a payment on that card in January. Got the reminder yesterday. I religiously fill in and make all payments on the 16th of every month (day after payday). I even took note that it had been paid on the 16th Jan - £32 by BACS - but it never appeared in the credit card account, and it never left my bank account when I looked back over the statements. I guess I must not have pressed the 'confirm' button on my online banking. I'm raging with myself. So, now a £12 charge on an account which should have been settled long ago.

Feel quite annoyed with myself and frustrated that Sainsburys are even part of my life right now. I suppose the good thing is that if they are busy, it means that more and more customers are standing up for themselves and getting their complaints dealt with.

How frustrating though that it seems to take a year and a half for a decision to be made. I know some people have had similar waits and I don't in any way think I should be treated any different, but it's a frustrating wait while this still hangs over your head, isn't it?
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!
  • Hi, sorry for using the replying section, but couldn't work out how to start new thread!
If anyone can advise will be very grateful, spent forever trying!!!
  • There's a blue button (top left) on the menu for the PPI reclaiming board - you'll find the new thread button there (says 'post reply' here, but will say 'new thread' on the menu page)
