hi all
after some advice. have had a barclay credit card since 1997 with ppi on it. have rang to cancel the ppi....accepted. would like to know if i could reclaim ppi payments as i did not require it as had a seperate policy which covered me for illness etc.
did not even realise i had ppi (through not looking at statements!) until recently. if i can claim what are my first steps please.
any advice?
many thanks in advance
Hi there
I would most certainly give it a go, you can do this by completing the reclaiming questionnaire on the link below, this replaced the template letter, send to whoever set this up (head office), remember to keep copies of all you send and receive in case you need to refer to this at some point.
They do normally have 8 weeks to give a decision, good luck with this please keep us posted.

Hi all
This is my first time trying to claim PPI back from HSBC from a loan back in 2004. I have sent two letters now with no response from them, the first was in September and the second I sent 2 weeks ago asking for a reply in 14 days which is now....any suggestions on where I go with this now??
If you hear nothing by 8 weeks they entitled to, chase them up, if you still hear nothing you can complain to the FOS, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi all,
I have a similar problem. HSBC took the full 8 weeks to send me a letter acknowledging my complaint and saying they had sent it to a dedicated complaints team. Soon after, that complaints team wrote saying they are looking into it and should have a response by November. Last night I got a letter from them saying they have investigated my complaint and have come to a conclusion but are not prepared to make a determination pending the judicial review as my complaint is affected by this review. Basically, neither agreeing or denying it.
I've just trawled through the net looking for a link between my complaint and this judicial review and how they determine which case is affected by the review and which is not?
For the record, I'm complaining about 2 loans - 1 taken out in Jan 2005 and paid off in May 2006 and another taken in May 2006 which I'm still paying for. I went direct to the bank and not via those claims handling companies.
I've had a look at the BBA website and I got a statement they issued saying they expect all their members (the banks) to handle PPi complaints in accordance with FSA rules during this review.
I'm also thinking of telling the bank that I will be suspending my repayments pending the outcome of that judicial review and their subsequent assesment of my complaint because my payments are affected by this court case as well. Is that too harsh? Give this a go, i would like to know what reply they give to you for this, just keep back the ppi amount as if you dont pay the loan then you will default.

Hi I am new to this, just wanted some advice. Have had a Barclaycard for ages, approx 10 years and have always paid PPI since I took it out. Was going to fill out one of the questionnaires to try and claim back as I have recently cancelled the ppi as have never used it, although I can't remember at all whether I agreed to it when I took out the credit card, so couldn't say whether I was missold it or not, other than not remembering I dont come under any of the other categories for misselling of ppi - does this mean I still can't claim?, was just going to give it a go really, but not sure - can anyone help??0

Hiya and welcome to the ppi reclaiming, if you were mis sold for any reason you can of course try to make a reclaim on the ppi, maybe they added ppi without your knowledge, or maybe you were not eligible, for example, if you were unemployed when taking this out you would not be eligible to make a claim for example, unemployment/sickness etc.
Maybe a Subject access request (SAR) may help bring back some memories of the sale of the account perhaps.
This request is optional, and there is a SAR template letter for this below link, they have 40 calendar days to comply and send all they hold on the account, but normally they only go back the last 6 years, however some have even received data going back to earlier years.
You have to enclose £10 cheque or postal order for this request.

If you do find that you were mis sold then follow the link below to the guidelines of reclaiming, you complete the reclaiming questionnaire, this replaced the template letter, and send to whoever was responsible for setting up your account (To thier Head office), keep copies of all you send and receive in case you need to refer to this at some point.
They normally have 8 weeks to give a decision.
Hope this helps, good luck.

I am new to this site & not sure where to post really but i hope i can get some help on this forum!...
I have taken loans out with Provident Personal Credit for many years...
I stopped taking loans off them 2 years ago...I was wondering if anyone knows whether i can reclaim any of my money back...I dont owe anything to them as i paid up every loan i ever had with them but i have heard alot on the news, internet etc lately of people being able to claim back money from certain loans...I would appreciate any help or advice you could give me as i don't know where to look or who to ask...
Regards
When i first took out a provident loan many years ago included in the repayments was PPI for death only.It was printed inside the back cover of the payment book. I've still got the payment book in question. It was also mentioned by the agent at the time the loan was agreed In the last couple of years at least, there is no mention of this in their current payment books or the agent mentioning this when loans are taken out.
Whether they still do the PPI included in the weekly payments, who knows, it probably is but not mentioned because of all the PPI claims0 -
thanks for your reply amersall... do you think i should call them to see if they sell PPI with their loans or if they have ever sold it?...not sure how to go about it
I don't want to say the wrong thing...they could either tell me the truth or say no to me because so many people are claiming back PPI!...lol...0 -
thanks dee 1311... I think i might call them up & see if they sold PPI with their loans without my knowledge!...lol...see what they say... hope i'm doing the right thing0

Hi there
There is no harm in ringing to ask for details on your account, afterall its yours.;) Go for it and good luck, let us know how you get on and we can take it from there.
Forgot to ask, is your account still active?
If so you can write a quick letter and enclose £1 cheque or postal order, ask they supply a copy of the agreement by 12 days. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
