    Good Morning Peeps,

Does anyone know who the insurance company was that supplied Welcome Finance with the PPI policies from 2002? I have contacted the FOS who cannot help my claim with Welcome Finance as they are saying they were not a member of the GSIC however they have advised if i can find out who the insurer was then they can try and claim direct from them for me. Any info please??? Thanks in advance x

Ps: I do not have any original paperwork, all i have is a copy of my loan agreement from Welcome but this does not state the insurer on it.

    Hiya

Many of us are in the same situation and mine in regards of the insurer/underwriter is actually being dealt with by an adjudicator, but what you do is write to Welcome Finance and ask them to supply you with the Insurance policy details, (you don't always received these with your loan documents when you take out the loan), they should then post these out to you.

You then puruse the insurer the way you did with the broker, and if they refuse, you can then make the usual complaint to the FOS as these would have been regulated, (as being an insurer).

Hope this helps and good luck.;)

    Hi there

They do normally have 8 weeks, and if you hear nothing by then you can make a complaint to the Financial ombudsman service (FOS).

There is a useful email contact if you want to ask them for updates, remember to give them the claim ref number as well, good luck and please keep us informed.;)

  • Hi all

This is my first time trying to claim PPI back from HSBC from a loan back in 2004. I have sent two letters now with no response from them, the first was in September and the second I sent 2 weeks ago asking for a reply in 14 days which is now....any suggestions on where I go with this now??

I have 2 claims currently with Lloyds since 28th September, received acknowledgement letter but when I rang to chase they said that all letters are on hold pending the judicial review.
  • Hi all,
I have a similar problem. HSBC took the full 8 weeks to send me a letter acknowledging my complaint and saying they had sent it to a dedicated complaints team. Soon after, that complaints team wrote saying they are looking into it and should have a response by November. Last night I got a letter from them saying they have investigated my complaint and have come to a conclusion but are not prepared to make a determination pending the judicial review as my complaint is affected by this review. Basically, neither agreeing or denying it.
I've just trawled through the net looking for a link between my complaint and this judicial review and how they determine which case is affected by the review and which is not?
For the record, I'm complaining about 2 loans - 1 taken out in Jan 2005 and paid off in May 2006 and another taken in May 2006 which I'm still paying for. I went direct to the bank and not via those claims handling companies.
I've had a look at the BBA website and I got a statement they issued saying they expect all their members (the banks) to handle PPi complaints in accordance with FSA rules during this review.
I'm also thinking of telling the bank that I will be suspending my repayments pending the outcome of that judicial review and their subsequent assesment of my complaint because my payments are affected by this court case as well. Is that too harsh? ;)
