Hi I am new to posting on this forum although I have been an avid follower.

I requested the PPI back from my mortgage account with LLoyds a few weeks back and have already had a letter today to say I will be getting a full refund as soon as I signed the enclosed acceptance slip. There were no figures in the letter to say how much I am being refunded nor if interest was to be paid so I phoned the Complaints Team. I told them I was a bit aprehensive about signing when I didn't have the figures, they said they didnt know how much it would be but that I had to sign the slip but they did say no interest would be added. I have sent an email to Scott Copsey at Customer Care detailing my concerns about signing the slip and also to say I clearly stated on my complaint letter that I expected interest to be added at 8%. Hope I have done the right thing. Any advice
Hi there, as di says. And if the offer was a goodwill gesture then they do not have to pay the 8%.One thing i would get clarified is are they giving you the interest on the ppi payments made?.
  • Hi everyone,

I heard Martin banging on about this on Daybreak the other day and it got me thinking.

In April 2007 I took out a small loan with Halifax, whilst appying for this loan I was told over the phone that I had to take out "Gold Repayment Cover". This I assume is the PPI you are all talking about ?

Can I reclaim this back ? It roughly works out to about £701.75 !!

Can I claim interest on this and if so how much ?

    All advice greatly recieved :D

    Hello there

If mis sold then go for it.
If you were told that you had to take it out then you have a case.

    You can complete the questionnaire, this replaced the first reclaiming letter template on this site here, as stage one of reclaiming;
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#reclaim

Complete and send to whoever set up your policy from the start, keep a copy in case you need to refer to it later on.

They have 8 weeks to give a decision, but they may ask for more time and give a timescale of when you should hear from them.

I would also post by recorded delivery for your proof of posting.

You can write a cover letter as well if you want to and enclose this with the questionnaire, good luck.;)

  • Thankyou.

Can I claim interest on this amount or have I been misreading ?

If so at what rate should it be ?

    Hi there

The normal interest amount reclaimed is that of 8%, check Maxdp's thread below, this is how the FOS calculates refunds if dealt with by them and if the bank/company upholds in your favour (and not an offer of goodwill) they should go by the guidelines of the FOS and pay the interest, this is not always offered on a goodwill basis though, but discreetly.

Hope this gives you an idea of how it works.;)

Hi there, check for reasons for mis sell and see if any apply to you, if you win you get ppi monthly payments made to date with the interest on those payments.

You can write a letter in your own words with your reasons on why you want to make a reclaim, the first template letter on this site was replaced by a ppi reclaming questionnaire, you can use that if you want to or do both, its up to you.
Remember though as stated above, keep copies all all you send and what you receive.;)

    The questionnaire you will find here on stage one of reclaiming, you send this to whoever mis sold and set up your policy;
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#reclaim

    If you write a letter......

Request they refund you all your PPI, plus interest paid into the account.
Give as much info as possible on why your making a reclaim/your reasons.
Ask that they comply by 8 weeks.
And then finally confirm - if you don't recieve a favourable response, you will then consider taking further action to retrieve your PPI etc, with the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) or through the courts.

You can do both of the above if you want to.;)
Hi has anyone got a copy of that template letter as Im useless with words :(
    Im not really mad...

    Hi there
MSE replaced with a questionnaire instead on the first letter, but I do have one you can use as a guide from the media site, but if you can try to use your own words, the reasons for this is because there is also a better success rate, as they are used to receiving the same letters from reclaimers.
    http://image.guardian.co.uk/sys-files/Money/documents/2007/10/26/PPIreclaim.pdf

Give them as much info as possible and make sure you get the points in of 8 weeks and the FOS, hope this helps, good luck.;)

  • I used blue sky claims to get my ppi from my credit card and its cost me more to claims it back than the amount they got me what a rip off. AVOID BLUESKYCLAIMS AT ALL COST
