When reading up on reclaiming PPI for loans I hear sometimes hear mention that the loan must have finished within the last 6 years.
Why is this exactly? If the loan finished 7 years ago for example, does this mean you're unable to reclaim?
Specifically I am talking about Egg.

Hi and welcome James.
Many have still been successful in reclaiming ppi from earlier than 6 years, if a bank you should be okay as they would have been regulated by GISC (General Insurance Standards Council) then afterwards the FSA taken over.
A few of mine have been successful via 2001 and others on here even earlier than that, so don't let that put you off.
However, they say 6 years as a time statute/barred, for instance something similar to when people are being chased for older debt gone past the 6 years that its time barred.
If the business still hold details on the accounts prior to 6 years then give it a go, or if you still have the paperwork.
Sorry I am not good at explaining in details these time barring matters, but if you think you have a reclaim, going back to earlier years, give it a shot at least, good luck.;)

hi
i have sent a letter to ikea claiming my ppi cashback 7 weeks ago. finally got a standard letter from them saying they are looking into my complaint!
how long should i leave it before chasing them up?
has anyone dealt with ikea on ppi?
also sent a cheque for a £1 to argos asking for a copy of my agreement, the cheque cleared in my bank on the 15th september but still no agreement, should i be chasing this by now or wait a few more days?
thanks
hannah
Hi hannah
They normally have 8 weeks, so give them a further week, if nothing by then, chase them up.
And for the copy of the agreement, this is usually about 12-14 days after, so keep a check on your post, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hi I am new to posting on this forum although I have been an avid follower.
Hi All
(Posted the comment below yesterday and thanks to Di for her great advice. Was wondering if anyone can tell me if I would need to claim seperately for 2 home improvement loans I got with this mortgage or would that be included in the claim I made on the mortgage PPI)
I requested the PPI back from my mortgage account with LLoyds a few weeks back and have already had a letter today to say I will be getting a full refund as soon as I signed the enclosed acceptance slip. There were no figures in the letter to say how much I am being refunded nor if interest was to be paid so I phoned the Complaints Team. I told them I was a bit aprehensive about signing when I didn't have the figures, they said they didnt know how much it would be but that I had to sign the slip but they did say no interest would be added. I have sent an email to Scott Copsey at Customer Care detailing my concerns about signing the slip and also to say I clearly stated on my complaint letter that I expected interest to be added at 8%. Hope I have done the right thing. Any advice0 -
Hi and welcome.
Well it seems like you have a good case with your reasons.
Now instead of writing a letter to reclaim, what is best now is to complete the FOS questionnaire (the financial ombudsman service) FOS, recently issued these for use of reclaiming from whoever set up and sold you the policy.
Complete and save a copy, and sent to who is responsible for mis selling the ppi to you, they have 8 weeks in full to respond, and post by recorded delivery, this is your proof of posting.
You will find the FOS questionnaire on below link further down the page as Stage one.

Good luck with this, please keep us posted and ask for help anytime.
