Hi and welcome
Yes that is fine, and if they said you must take out the ppi and did not give you an option then go for it.
Just complete the reclaiming questionnaire, on link below, further on down the page as stage one here;
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#reclaim
Then send to the bank's complaints office or head office, remember to keep a copy in case you need to refer to it at some point, and they have 8 weeks to give a decision, keep at them.
You can write a letter instead if you want to, but the above questionnaire replaced the first template letter on this site, so it would be best to write in your own words, such as......
Request they refund you all your PPI paid into the account, plus interest.
Give them your reasons why your reclaiming.
Ask that they comply by 8 weeks.
Then confirm if they do not give you a favourable decision - you will consider making a complaint to the Financial ombudsman service (FOS).
So basically, you can do either of the above, or even both if you want to.;)
Good luck, please keep us posted, cheers XThe one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi
Wow that is great well done to you and Congratulations Mollymoo.:T:beer::j
I take it you have already tried their data dept to ask if there is anything on microfiche in relation to this account prior to 2003?
Good luck.;)
Hi Di thanks for this A & L have said they do not have these records do you think its worth asking MBNA or am I pushing it they have already paid out there portion0 -
I have had problems with MBNA too. They said that I had phoned them to ask for PPI - I responded by telling them that I was out of the country on holiday on the day that they say I phoned them! The last thing I would have been doing is making a call about having PPI put on the account. They refuse to accept this, but admit that they do not have a record of the call, so I've now gone to the FOS.
Good luck - I will no doubt end up there also.0 -
When sending off the 1st letter for a PPI reclaim - is it worth putting a figure to the amount being claimed or leave it to them to work out?
Thanks.

Hi there
Lloyds all over !!!
How long ago did your friend take out the loan?
If in the last 6 years they must hold some details of that account.
Have your friend requested for a Subject access request (SAR)?
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1475553
Now that other matter is shocking and I really don't know what to suggest, but maybe contact the Information Commissioners office (ICO) and maybe they will give you some idea on this one.
https://www.ico.gov.uk/Global/contact_us.aspx
Call the above first, and explain the letter was amongst your friend's
letter, and of course this is not saying a lot for Lloyds is it?
Thanks Di. She took a consoliation loan out with First Plus and paid all her debts off around 2004. She hasn't asked for a SAR yet because that was just the very first step where we sent the FOS complaint questionnaire. Do you have the e-mail address for their CEO please? Might be worth having a go at him to see if he can liven them up to "find" some information - especially after we highlight their appalling lack of security. I'm sure someone in a previous post experienced something very similar with Lloyds.

Your welcome mollymoo.
There is no harm in asking, just in case, they can double check on this for you.
Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
