ok i have got my ppi back on a loan from all&leics, fantastic!!
BUT... put in a claim with hsbc for a credit card and rbs for a credit card and both have been rejected.
they both said as i took the cards out over the internet i did not recieve any advice and chose the ppi myself.
am i finished with these? what can i say to them to help my cases?
Hi
Well done on your success.
That is the thing with internet sales, they come out with the same excuses, but it is known that many have had to tick for ppi online because the page would no allow them to move forward to the next question.
It can be more difficult to succeed in internet ppi reclaiming but it have been done.
I would keep at them until you receive the final decision, if you already received them then move on to the FOS.
I also understand that loan ppi seem to be more easier to succeed that credit card ppi, but keep at them, if you further information to give then let them know and ask them to reconsider.
Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi
I'm new to all this stuff so forgive my ignorance. I tried claiming back my bank charges from Halifax last year under the hardship banner and was basically told no chance. I have just been so busy lately and haven't had time to follow anything through and won't be able to for some time due to loads of personal commitments.
Anyway, today I gets a phone call out of the blue from McCleans Management Agency. The guy claimed they were one of 4 agencies recruited by the government to assist with PPI and bank charges claims. They had all my personal details including address, bank account number and sort code. They said that I would get back a guaranteed minimum of £1500 and probably more once I gave them all the details of other accounts, old loans, credit cards etc. The money would be credited to my account within 6 -8 weeks after I had completed all the paperwork. The catch is they want a one off payment £199 up front. This, they say is refundable at any time if I cancel before they pay me the money. It's very tempting but sounds a little bit too easy. Has anyone heard of this company and if so are they any good? Thanks0 -
Morning all,
My girlfriend got a graduate loan of £5.5k (I believe this was with interest included or something??), from her bank - HSBC, in 2006, which is all paid off now (@ £200 p/m for 36 months). Anyway, after watching Martin on TV this morning, she realised that she was advised that PPI was included in the loan and that it was compulsory. She thought that as she agreed to it, she couldnt reclaim, when in fact it appears it was missold.
Having watched this thing with her this morning, we realise that's wrong and she should make a claim to have it repaid.
She accepted the PPI at the time, and as such, every time she's seen an advert or received a telephone call, she's said ''no, I can't make a claim as I agreed to it'', but this morning it's become clear she agreed as it was advised that it was compulsory, which it was not.
Should she go ahead and make a claim to the bank?
Thank you very much for your help0 -

Hi and welcome
I would be very wary to be honest, lots on here have these calls and end up with hassle, where its simple enough to do yourself.
They can easily get hold of your data if you applied for loans/credit cards in the past, this is not difficult for them to get hold of really.
By the time you deal with these, you could just simply enough have just completed the questionnaire to reclaim your ppi, this is on this site, and you just send to whoever set up and sold you the policy, and they have 8 weeks to give a decision, and just keep a copy of the form/questionnaire.
You will find this ppi reclaiming questionnaire (which is used and replaced the first reclaiming template letter on this site) on link below, further down the page as stage one;
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance
Doing this yourself will not cost you a penny, only for the posting at your post office.
Ask for any help if required and again be very careful of using claims companies, they all sound mis leadingly good at the time, but I would not bother.
Good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hi and welcome
It seem your GF has a good chance here, and they should never have made the ppi as part of the loan, or being accepted for the loan, and not only that would she have been able to make a claim for instance for unemployment/sickness etc.
There are lots of reasons.
All you have to do is either write a letter in your own words, request they refund all the ppi paid into the account and interest.
Give reasons of why reclaiming.
Ask that they comply by 8 weeks.
And confirm if you do not receive a favourable response by then, you will consider taking this matter further for investigation, such as to the financial ombudsman service (FOS) or the courts.
Or complete the PPI reclaiming questionnaire.....
You will find this on link below, further down the page as stage one of reclaiming....
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance
Send to whoever sold and mis sold the policy, if they have a complaints of head office then send it to them.
Keep a copy in case you need to refer to this at some point.
They have 8 weeks as stated above, although they may ask for more time, that is fine.
I would also post by recorded delivery this is your proof of posting.
So do either of the above, or both if you want to.
Hope this helps, good luck and please keep us posted, cheers.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

This is the letter I~'ve quickly drafted on my GF's behalf, do you think it's ok?
Dear Sir/Madam
In the summer of 2006, I took out a Graduate Loan, circa £5,500 – this was to be paid back at £200 a month over 36 months – the loan was repaid in its entirety in October of 2009. At no time did I ever default on a payment.
When taking out the loan, I was advised that Payment Protection Insurance was included in the price and that it was a compulsory addition to the loan. As I required the loan for a number of different reasons, I accepted the PPI portion of it.
However, it has come to light that the PPI was not compulsory and as a result of this I was patently misdirected by whomever I was advised by. Notwithstanding that fact, I was also covered by my current employer, First Great Western, for any sickness I may have encountered whilst employed by them. The Statutory Sick Pay model that FGW follow is 6 months full pay, with the following 6 months at half pay. As such, if I was advised correctly at the time of taking out my loan with PPI, I would have known that it was not necessary for me to take it out. Please note again that the only reason I took it out is because I was told that it was included in the cost of my loan and that it was compulsory and that the loan was not available to me without it.
It is with the above paragraph in mind that I chose to seek independent financial advice, whereby I was directed that I had a valid claim to make and to contact you directly; If you choose to disregard my claim, I would have no hesitation to write to the appropriate Ombudsman, which I am more than willing to do upon receipt of an unsatisfactory response to this letter.
I urge you to resolve this issue without the need for me to contact the Ombudsman or Courts, as it is clear to all that have reviewed my claim that I am entitled to a rebate of the PPI I paid on my loan as;
a) I was advised that PPI was compulsory, and that it was included in my loan, when it most certainly was not compulsory and shouldn’t have been ‘included’ in the price.
b) I was covered by an excellent benefits package by my employer.
Please note that point A is sole enough reason in itself to claim the PPI back that I paid and as such, I expect the appropriate recompense, plus interest, in due course.
I was clearly missold my policy.
I look forward to hearing from you within the stated 8 week period.
Yours faithfully0 -
