Help please,
I have written to Barclays with reference to misselling PPI due to the fact that I have cover from my employer which would cover me in the event of illness or accident for a year. I did menton this to the salesman on the phone but he has said on the "demands and needs" form which I had signed admittedly, that i was covered for 26 weeks only. I know that I told him I was covered for 52 weeks but today have recived a letter from Barclays declining to pay.
This is the first reply from them and they have offered me the chance to ring them to discuss - shall I do this or just write the 2nd letter asking them to reconsider and then go on to the FOS.
Thanks all for any help.
Hi and welcome
Personally I would not discuss anything in relation of the ppi to them over the phone, I would write to them and tell them you prefer written correspondence only. Just in case they try fobbing you off.
So as this was the first response, write back and tell them you do not agree with their findings, and you are requesting they reconsider your complaint before you decide to take this further, tell them "why would you want to pay out twice" due to the fact of already being covered by your employer.
As this is the 2nd letter, ask that they can comply by about 14 days as from your letter, before you decide to take it further alongside with any evidence you have.
Just a suggestion.
If you have not done this already, have you requested for a Subject access request (SAR) at all?
This is where they have 40 calendar days to comply and send all the info they hold on you.
You have to enclose the payment of £10 cheque or postal order for this request.
There is a SAR letter template here:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1475553
This is of course optional though, sometimes useful info is enclosed in regards of the ppi etc. Its up to you though okay.;)
Good luck and please let us know how you get on.

Thansk for that Di, I have not requested a SAR - will write back asking them to reconsider. Shall I include the request for the SAR on the same letter enclosing a cheque for £100

Hiya
And your welcome.;)
I would try to keep the SAR separate if you can, in case they try pulling a fast one if you know what I mean.
I think its another dept here;

I posted my story in this thread #11765 before and then on 2 July I sent my form to HSBC for reclaim my insurance for graduate loan started from Nov 2004. I received letter after a week said that they would try to give me answer in 40 days. after approx. 1 month I received another letter from HSBC that they needed another 40 days. then I received a letter today - they would try before 27 Sep 2010. However this letter is different, they wrote that "if you are not satisfied with progress made", I can refer this matter to Ombudsman. They also attached a leftlet of ombudsman.
Is it the time for me to fill in and post FOS Complaint Form?0 -

Hi there, this is the 8th week now, if you want to put a form in to fos you can , but if i were you i would give them a couple of weeks and ring them each week to see if there is any progress, you can still put your letter in to fos but you could hear from the company sooner, it is up to you x0 -

Hi there
Its really up to you if you want to complain to the FOS now, they have had ample time, and because they already realise that, (with 8 weeks have already passed), they have to enclose the details of the FOS to give you that option.
Please also be aware the FOS may also take some time though, or see what the next letter will be and take it from there.
Good luck either way.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Hoping to get a claim off to Barclays against a PPI but have two basic queries (apologies I have searched, but OTT with information at the moment and going 'round in circles....)
Q - The end of the format questionnaire says 'now send the form to your bank/insurance provider', but should this just be sent 'cold' direct to Barclays or would it be best to send a basic letter (what format?) beforehand? then wait for their reply - Or should I send the completed questionaire with (or without) an accompanying letter off straight away?
Q - Next question: The only address I have for Barclays on any correspondence to do with the PPI has an address given as a PO Box number in Ireland, although the annual loan account statement ('Barclayloan Plus with Payement Protection') quotes Barclays Bank plc, Leicester LE87 2BB.
Which one should I be writing to?
Thanks, in advance, for any guidance!
