    Hi all,
Have just spent a really frustrating twenty minutes talking to an overseas call centre trying to get some sense out of HFC!

I completed the FOS template from this site and sent it off by recorded delivery on 29th May. Royal Mail tracking system shows that it was signed for on 3rd June at 7.59 am. I waited for nine weeks then sent them another letter and they responded by sending me one of their own HFC questionnaires. I completed this and sent it back, again by recorded delivery, with a letter saying that I was disappointed that it had taken all this time and all they had done was sent out their own questionnaire. I decided to ring them this afternoon and was told by the advisor that my complaint had only been logged on 5th August so it would take eight weeks for them to respond! I pointed out that I had proof of delivery from Royal Mail - to which the advisor responded that I hadn't put a covering letter in with the FOS template and they would only log a complaint on their system if it says you are complaining in a letter! I pointed out that all the info was there in the FOS questionnaire - when, why and where and the reasons that I felt the PPI had been mis-sold. Yes, she said, I understand that but you didn't put it in a letter so your complaint has been logged from 5th August on our system.

    Is it me?

Ha ha, they make it up as they go along!!

Well I'll definately be putting covering letters in the envelopes then lol!! Thanks for the tip!

I am completely new to this so help please! - have been reading the forum and has got me thinking about the loans and credit cards I have.

The first one I've looked at is an MBNA credit card for which I am paying PPI - I've had the card since 1998 but no longer had the original agreement. I requested it from them and it has arrived in the post this morning. There is a big tick on the 'no' box under the PPI question but my statements show that I am paying it - can I claim? What do I do?!

Hi there and welcome, if you want you can put it in your own words, just a few simple lines, that you were mis sold ppi on the above account(state your reasons ) and you want this paid back to you with interest plus the statutory 8%. That is all it takes, send it recorded delivery and they have 8 weeks to reply.Or if you feel more at ease use the template

Good luck with this and keep us posted x

I did indeed contact the FOS straight after that conversation to see if that could possibly be right They couldn't believe it either and said why didn't I just go ahead with the complaint - so I did! Serves you right HFC :p

    Hi and welcome

Well it seems you do have reasons to make a reclaim.

So what I would do is complete the FOS questionnaire, as shown on the link amersall posted, you will see this on the link, further down the page as stage one.
Send to who set up your policy, and send copies of your statements, and your agreement (copies only) this is your proof that you have been charged for this every month.

Keep copies of the questionnaire as well, in case you need to refer to this at some point.

They have 8 weeks in full to respond, they may ask for more time, this is okay, please keep us posted, good luck.;)

  • Well its gone to FOS, first class recorded delivery, just hope they see it my way and not Natwests. Am desperately trying to leave Natwest after collection of terrible service. The PPI thing, putting me on Natwest Gold Advantage without telling me three years ago - so have not taken any advanages such as travel insurance etc,, and lastly not letting me change the account i pay my actual loan from, currently Natwest to Barclays. A lady who looked like David Walliams in drag said read your terms and conditions. Helpful Banking!!!!! I would like to do an alternative version of the Natwest charter TV advert.

  • Help please,

I have written to Barclays with reference to misselling PPI due to the fact that I have cover from my employer which would cover me in the event of illness or accident for a year. I did menton this to the salesman on the phone but he has said on the "demands and needs" form which I had signed admittedly, that i was covered for 26 weeks only. I know that I told him I was covered for 52 weeks but today have recived a letter from Barclays declining to pay.

This is the first reply from them and they have offered me the chance to ring them to discuss - shall I do this or just write the 2nd letter asking them to reconsider and then go on to the FOS.

    Thanks all for any help.
