  • I am tearing my hair out, I have been pursuing my complaint about PPI for a year and half now and I recieved a letter from my bank telling me that they are unable to locate any records for me on their systems and that the bank are unable to progress this matter at this moment in time

It goes on to say "If your complaint does relate to a policy with us, please provide us with full information with which to identify you on our systems, including any recent change of name of address, any policy/account details you hold or any other relevant information. Please also return the enclosed correspondence originally sent to us by Financial Ombudsman Service.

Once these details have been confirmed we will be happy to fully investigate your complaint.

    1) I already wrote to the bank at the beginning which they rejected my claim and stated that it wasn't missold but did offer £750 as a goodwill gesture

    2) I fired off a 2nd letter to RBS to which I recieved no reply

    3) I sent off my complaint to the FOS

    4) A year and a half later, I get this letter from RBS,

Now the policy numbers are on the letter from the FOS, is this just another delaying tatic by my bank and if so, what should I do? They are seriously starting to get on my wick now

I wonder if they have had to reopen your complaint as per the recent FSA ruling? This could be whereby they pay you out sooner than FOS getting involved.

Thanks a lot for answers and details.

I got 3 loan PPI, 1 credit card PPI, 1 credit card charges and 1 bank charges all prepared so fingers crossed now.

    This is for Lloyds TSB.

Some news, in all my claims I basically wrote my story, that I was a student at the time of the sold PPI and I entered periods of hardship where I had to use the credit card to keep up with payments... Sent everything on the 9th August.

Credit card charges, letter back straight away saying they will look into the matter.
Then received a payment direct in my credit card account for all the late charges as well as the interests, 545 pounds worth. They didnt even sent a letter about it...

Bank charges, letter back straight away too stating that after the Supreme court ruling of the 25th Nov 2009, no claim can be made for fairness. Might follow on that with the FOS, £1800 worth plus interests.

PPIs, letters back straight away saying they are looking into the matter, then for all, new letters 4 days later (that's quick).
Credit card PPI. They say that the records relating to the sale are incomplete. Therefore they offer a full refund with interest. The refund will be calculated once they receive the signed acceptance slip.
Loans PPIs, full refund of the PPIs with 8% interest, the amounts will be calculated once they receive the signed acceptance slip.
£4500 of PPIs worth, then interests of top.

    I am over the moon!

Thank you so much for all the details and people helping on this forum.

I have been away so only picked all the documents up now. Is it ok to accept all offers or shall I ask for the amounts to be calculated first?

Hi there, I've just got my T&Cs back from Amex and will be completing the questionaire to send off to them pronto as I believe the PPI was missold. Just wondered if anyone can tell me of their experiences with this company? Hopefully they won't be as bad as Lloyds :)

    Hi there

I am not sure on this company, as have not had dealings with them myself, but sure others will post up who have dealt with them with their own experience.

I know what you mean about Lloyds though .

Good luck and please keep us posted, cheers.;)

  • hello all,

having seen many adverts on tele for claiming mis sold ppi
i decided to claim back the ppi for 2 loans from beneficial finance and 1 from natwest
and came across this site which i found very helpful
especially Di who has replied with so much patience and enthusiasm to
    most of the threads.
    A brief history

In oct 05 i took out a personal loan from beneficial finance,
at the time of taking out the loan i was told that having ppi would give me
a greater possibility of obtaining the loan and if i didnt take it there was a significant
chance of the loan being rejected as i was seen as a risky customer, the person who sold me the loan said that i could always come back n cancel this ppi if i wanted in the cooling off period, when i went back into the sheffield town centre branch from where i took this loan out the following week to cancel the ppi,
the same person told me that i wont be able to cancel the ppi alone but need to cancel the loan as well and then apply for a new loan which again would have a high possibility of being rejected because i wasnt adding ppi to the loan, having already paid off all my credit cards and store cards from the loan taken as it was the purpose of the loan i couldnt risk cancelling it as then i would have no other means to pay back the money i left, this loan was eventually replaced by another loan in june 07 which had ppi as well as i again was told that it would help me get the loan ( which i truly believed) but closed the loan within 4 months as i found it too expensive, i called the hfc bank customer services on 18th Aug to complain that i was mis sold the ppi as i was pressurised by the sales person to take it, falsely told that ppi would increase my chances of obtaining the loan and also the true cost of the ppi wasnt explained properly to me ie that i had to pay monthly interest for the ppi for the duration of the loan, on 24th Aug i recieved a letter from HFC bank which had a questionnaire which i duly sent out along with a covering letter outlining my complaint,
Has anyone got any idea how hfc bank have been dealing with thier complaints recently
    approximate response time and
and whom to write to in case of delays
and how to approach the whole process
    thanks

  • Loan with Natwest Bank

    A brief History
Took out a loan with natwest in october 07 where i was told
i still needed ppi as it was a better cover, even though i told the person
recommending me the ppi that i was covered for sickness
and accidental death benefit fit and any redundancy pay if made redundant
by my employer, when i went back in the cooling period i was told like earlier
that the whole loan would have to b e cancelled, eventually thought
that it was the standard norm as i had heard the same earlier,
later on aug 08 i went back to the bank to cancel the ppi as i was short of money,
where i was introduced to the financial planning officer who recommended
that i should take 2 other products n cancel the ppi, eventhough i felt that i didnt need any cover i
reluctantly took it as it was much cheaper than having ppi,and was clearly told that my ppi was cancelled
recently while sifting through historical statements ik realised that even though i was charged for these 2 other
products by direct debit from aug 08 as well as for the ppi until jan 2009,
i have now sent a covering letter along with fos questionnaire as i felt that i was missold the ppi
can anyone please give me an idea on how natwest have been dealing with these sort of complaints recently
how long does it usually take to reach any sort of resolution,
sorry for being stupid for being repetitive
but just anxious to do everything right
    cheers

    Hi Vickz

    And welcome.;)

They normally have 8 weeks to deal with a complaint, if you hear nothing by then you are in your rights to make a complaint to the Financial ombudman service (FOS), but if the 8 weeks are coming to a near, I would contact them and ask them for an update, and mention about the FOS direction if you don't hear anything soon.

Sometimes they write to ask for more time, this is okay, just as long as they have given you an idea of when you should expect to hear of a decision.

You do have very good reasons here to make a reclaim, I don't blame you, especially after being falsly told that you can cancel within the cooling period, and they did not allow this when you tried.
Besides within the cooling period, it should have just been a case of them removing the ppi and reducing your monthly repayments, its not as if you asked to cancel after that cooling period, where then its expected to take out a new loan.

Fingers crossed for you, please keep us posted, cheers.:)X

    Hi there

Lots on here have had dealings with this company, and hopefully will post up to let you know of their own experience while dealing with these. Fingers crossed.

As above, they have 8 weeks, hopefully they will get back sooner with a good outcome at the end for you.

Please let us know how you get on, good luck.;)
