    Hiya,

Were Lloyds part of the GISC in 1999? According to my policy documents, they were a member of ABI and IOB.

    It doesn't mention GISC!

GISC did not start until 2001.
The ABI code pre dated that from 1989.
The ABI code stated 3 key areas highlighted below which the FOS will take into account.
    1. There shall be an overriding obligation of an intermediary at all times to conduct business with utmost good faith and integrity.
    2. They shall ensure as far as possible that the policy proposed is suitable to the needs of the prospective policyholder.
    3. They shlould explain all the essential provisions of the cover afforded by the policy or policies they are recommending so as to ensure as far as is possible that the prospective policyholder understands what he/she is buying; [and] draw attention to any restrictions and exclusions applying to the policy.

The basic rules have never changed, just the wording has.
    Hope this clarifies for you.
  • HEY Guys
Am really new to this, have had really serious financial problems over past few years and actually ended up going bankrupt.......with I might add lots of help from this website!! Anyway I am attempting to reclaim the PPI that we were sold from a company selling us a second mortgage. Have done the first step from this website and now have just had a reply from the company stating that because we/they used a broker initially that the complaint was nothing to do with them and we should speak to them directly. However I have just replied to say that all our paperwork/documentation, which I sent copies with on the original complaint, was in their name not the brokers and therefore isnt the agreement with them?????? and asked that they again look into the complaint!!! Really dont know if that is right has anybody else had this ?????? Please help xxxx
  • Wasnt sure if I could say who the loan/mortgage was with: but on reading it appears I can! The loan is with Firstplus and the PPI, however they state that the brokers are liaible Loans.co.uk. I have seen the website Firstpluscomplaints.co.uk which is really informative. Again can anyone let me know if they have had any dealings with Firstplus??? Thanx guys xx

    Hello there

You therefore write to loans.co.uk to make a reclaim, you can do this by completing the new questionnaires that were recently issued by the Financial ombudsman service (FOS), and youi will find this further down the page Stage one of reclaiming, keep copies as well in case you need to refer to it later on, or complain to the FOS.

I have read many articles on this forum about nemo being hard to deal with, we put a claim in for ppi in Dec 08 ,the fos found in our favour, nemo appealed and it went to an adjudicator and they were told to pay us back, yesterday we found out that it has been found in our favour by 2 sets of adjudicators and nemo have not replied to a any of them, now it will go to the fos for one final decision. talk about frustration
  • it sounds like its now going to an ombudsman for a final decision, this will mean you will probably get additional compensation for the additional hassle and distress Nemo have caused you.

let us know how you get on.
I'm proud to say that the banks no longer take money from me after becoming debt free

    Hi and welcome

Action replay to ours with Nemo, although ours was finally resolved now, it taken about 15 months all in all and even went as far as the ombudsman, however, you should now also be further redressed for distress and inconvenience, for going as far as the ombudsman.

    Good luck with this.;)
