Tesco Cancel Food Delivery

Oh Please use some common sense, do you really expect a delivery today in this weather ?.
I live in the very centre of london EC1 and there are no buses, no post, i too was expecting a delivery from tesco's, plus my son's birthday present's i ordered from Lego.com and Play.com it's a pain but i would not want anybody risking their health and safety for something i can wait for.
Erm, have you rad the OPs message? I don't think that was the issue here, the issue from what I could pick up, was that they didn't know how to rearrange another day, not that they were soley angry at Tescos for cancelling.0 -
i would email tescos or call them and ask them to help you with reordering and explain you dont want to be out of pocket if you have to reorder the stuff now the offers have changed.
They shoud be able to help you with this i mean how hard can it be (for them not you) to just re pick your original order on anoher day?
The point is not really about compensation, just inconvenience which cant be helped.
But you should not be out of pocket having to pay more to order again. if you communicate this to them they should be ameanable.0 -
a contingency plan is a good idea. the roads around here were driveable, albeit slowly, so perhaps they could have rung the customers to find out which ones wouldnt be around on another day and really needed it today?
Also, they rang whilst i was out and left a message. but it seems if i had been in to take the call they could have rearranged delivery on the spot, and i wouldnt have to re-do my order. So why not ring customers during their delivery time slot, as you know there will be someone there to answer
Thankfully tesco doesnt seem to be so busy with deliveries (or they have increased drivers), because of late, you can usually get a slot within 24hrs. whereas a year ago, you had to book at least 4 days in advance to get the day you wanted. Luckily for me, its not that big a deal that the food is coming a day late, it was just a nuisance to have to re-do my order (no it isnt possible to re-access an order at all, after the cutoff point for changes), but it just mean i had to go into my account and access previous orders and go through adding everything to my basket again. only pita was, the code i had used the day before was no longer being accepted, but grapes were now half price, so its balanced itself out lol

I didn't get a call to say they wouldn't be coming, their helpline has a recorded message saying due to bad weather they have had some problems but if your order won't be delivered you will be contacted by phone before the allocated time slot. Online my order is showing as delivered, my online credit card statment is showing the charge as pending. I can't speak with anybody at the Tesco helplines as it appears to go straight to a recorded message then cuts you off.
I sent them an email last night, but no response.
Not impressed at all.

Has everyone gone mad, they are cancelling even ambulances due to the weather, and peoples biggest concern is their shopping! What has the world really come to.
I wonder how we survied before home delivery!!0 -

So if they stop ambulances in London due to bad weather should the rest of the country sit down and stop working in sympathy?
Roads down here are fine as mentioned in my post, yet Tesco home delivery seems to have come to a halt.
Also phone lines are fully functional so a polite call from Tesco saying they couldn't be bothered to deliver would have been nice.

All fine if all the staff that work in Tesco live in your street, Along with the Distribution depots which get the stuff into the stores in the first place.0

Tescos might not have had their deliveries , we have a haulage company and although the roads were fine around here everywhere we needed to go was affected and they all had to turn round0

I actually take offence at the above sentence. I agree with the phone call bit but not the 'couldn't be bothered to deliver', in this weather?????
I am a (female) driver for ASDA and I was dreading my shift last night. I had a call from a female colleague in a panic who was stuck in the snow and wasn't sure how she was going to get out as the wheels were just spinning on the compacted snow. Luckily she was able to free herself with the help of the customer that she had just delivered to and was able to continue.
I tell you what, I was s**t scared in the floods a year ago as it wasn't until you drove through the 'puddles' on the country roads that you realised they were 'rivers'!
It's the nature of the beast that in weather like this people sitting at home think that they won't risk going out and have their shopping delivered instead so please be patient as we try to get to deliver safely.
Just to add, I do agree that all it takes is a polite phone call but I often find I have no signal out of town but call at the earliest opportunity. I'm sure if you ring your local store rather than the (ASDA - in South Africa) Helpline, they would be more clued up on where their drivers are.
